  3. Amazon has gotten really stupid when it comes to those large beautiful jpg's they used to display. Now they are much smaller, don't even fill the whole page when enlarged...............
  4. I've been there too! When I run into difficulties, I call on invaluable help from Organissimo friends. There always seems to be a slight colour difference when pasting though; I've found I can have several goes at one job; some better than others but none perfect except when there's a clear line in a convenient place running through the image. Surely there would be a market for an LP sized scanner. supposedly they're out there but cost too much money, I havent been able to find one on the net.......
  5. Just received an email from Ablolute Distribution(FreshSound). There's a new release by RLR Records, "At Jiryar Zorthian's Ranch, July 14, 1952" RLR88622. Ok all you Bird experts, tell me something about this release. I probably will have purchased it before anyone responds.........................
  6. Did manage to paste two scans together, works pretty good when you learn how to do it...........
  7. Bought ArcSoft Scan-n-Stich Delux, but not haveing good results with my HP Scanjet 4670 scanner.....................
  8. As I figured, can you give me brand names and model #'s....................
  9. My first two cd purchases were A Night At Birdland Vol.'s 1 & 2. by Art Blakey. That was in '97. That 2 cd collection has grown to 1800. I build my collection first by searching, always on the hunt. Usually do my research on the All Music Guide then do the buying on Amazon.com, Half/Ebay.com, Early Records.com(Mr. Hiroshi Tanno in Japan)and several other internet sources which represents approx. 80 percent of my collection. I rarely buy a cd unless I've heard sound samples. My wish list on Amazon and Half is always full. Of course I also enjoy going into the music stores(Amoeba Records in Berkeley and San Francisco and Rasphutin's in Berkeley)with my printed wish list in hand to browse and buy. Have won a few Ebay auctions although I prefer to buy rather than bid. Have also traded cd-r's with a couple of my extremely knowledgeable board mates on Organissimo. Basically that's how I do it. If I could just figure out a system and find the time to listen to them all, that would be great.............
  10. What is the process for getting album cover photos down to jewell case size. Also, which scanner in the $200-$300 range is best for scanning the LP's.............
  11. I also much prefer 'Music Inc & Big Band', more fire and immediacy, but they're both well worth having, as is everything by Tolliver. Still longing for a CD of 'Paper Man'! "longing for a cd-r of "Paperman". Not a problem. If you don't care what it sounds like, and you email me your address, I will send you a cd-r. I would love to have a cd-r of Music Inc. & Big Band...........
  12. Bought the Teac GF-350 for approx. $300.00. Only problem I have is there's no bass/treble controls. Music on cd-r sounds bass-less on the weak Bose system in my Nissan Altima...........
  13. I recently purchased the Mosaic set and the LP Paperman, fantastic music..................
  14. As much as I like Sidewinder, there's no way I keep it and give up Search For The New Land............
  15. If you don't like Sidewinder, you probably won't like another huge hit, The In Crowd by Ramsey Lewis. You have to consider what was going on musically at the time..................

    Woody Shaw

HELP, made a cd-r of some woody shaw music(at least I think it's Woody) and forgot to write the title on the cd, looks like there are 10 cuts. On the first cut there is a Flora Purim sounding female who sings the following lyrics to start the song: flying high with our heads up to the sky; this is no fantasy, sky is clear, we cried all our tears, and we saved all our smiles for this moment, time is right for us to take a flight to the land of ecstacy. and it goes on Can someone please tell me the name of this song and which session/LP it is from. Thank you...............
  19. Saw JH recently in the dressing room at Yoshi's during Benny Golson's last engagement. He looks absolutly fabulous for a guy 73 years old........................
  20. My favorite KD sessions are Una Mas, Afro-Cuban, Trompeta Toccata and Osmosis because the obscure under recorded tenor Frank Haynes is on the set....................
  21. I thought Natural Essence(which I own) was Tyrone Washington's only session/release as a leader. I'm in Amoeba Records(the best indi record store in northern california)the other day and I see this sealed reissue LP Roots by Tyrone. At $8.99, why not give a try. Imo, the LP is barely ok(how can you screw up You Don't Know What Love Is) two, maybe three stars.......................
  22. Thanks for the response. Has anyone used the Teac GF-350? If so, were you satisfied with the results?
  23. Yes, It's an LP and the music is amazing. Thought provoking and exhilarating music to say the least. The shit that's not on CD. And I said to myself, "no more LP's", only cd's. Boy, is that changing..............
  24. Could we Please put the NEASE in Japo................
