  1. I've had this item saved in my Amazon "Save For Later" list for several months. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000062VUO/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_2?smid=A2P0F4MQY62SCT&psc=1
  2. I swear that they watch this place for these reissues. I often see their listing pop up within hours of someone here mentioning it.
  3. CD Japan has not had these yet - at least this was true the last time I looked.
  4. Cambridge Soundworks used to make "great bang for the buck" speakers. They almost created the "sub/sat" speaker industry that sprang up in the early 90s. I used to highly recommend their Tower II speakers for people who wanted great sound on a budget. They were particularly good speakers if you wanted to crank it up a bit. Speaking of cheap audio, what are people recommending for PC speakers these days?
  5. I have most of these already or else this would be a great way to acquire them.
  6. That Tivoli clock radio looks like a real dog. The Amazon reviews are pretty bad. From overly bright lights to poorly contrasted, or rather, unreadable writing on the dials, it doesn't seem like something I'd want. On top of that, it has one of those single arm alarms. Am I the only one who remembers how shitty those were to set? You almost always had to stick to "on the hour" alarms and even if you did that, you could be off by 10 minutes in either direction. Yuck.
  7. I just got an e-mail that that this release is delayed. I'm guessing that it's due to the need for new artwork:
  8. I don't think those sound samples sound all that great. Typical bootleg quality.
  9. I once had a bunch of mp3 files that I copied from a data CD-R come over as "Read only" and I couldn't edit the tags. I had to edit the file properties to get file write properties back.
  10. I can't believe that the value of this incredible set has dropped so much. I remember a time when this set was fetching almost $300 on eBay. I almost sold mine at the time. Wish I did now. I could've re-bought it for $95.
  11. It wasn't really a "use it" thing, I just happened to notice weird artwork one day. I had accidentally pasted in the wrong album art for several songs I had on a USB stick. I checked the songs at home and they were fine but when they popped up on the car audio player's screen (if I noticed it) it was wrong. In a few cases, it was actually some work spreadsheets that I accidentally pasted in as "album art" so I really wanted to figure out how the hell that happened. It wasn't until I edited the actual mp3 tags that I found out that the artwork is in there in 3 places. Once I deleted all of the artwork entries and re-pasted in the correct artwork, everything was fine. BTW, I have a boombox that plays CD-Rs filled with mp3 files. It was cool when it came out as it allowed me to play a lot of music on the back deck with a single disc. If those mp3 files had any artwork encoded into them at all, the first few seconds of each track got clipped. Somehow this boombox was "reading" the mp3 tag (it displayed the song artist & album) and if it encountered album art, it took too long to "read" it and it delayed the playback just enough to blank out a few seconds of the song. Weird, huh? I had to re-burn several CD-Rs with mp3s filled with no artwork.
  12. I am tempted to go see the Bad Plus at the recently re-opened Press Room in Portsmouth, NH but I think I'm going to pass. If it was Friday or Saturday night... probably... but with a 4:45 AM wake up alarm tomorrow, nah.
  13. Did you find a tag editor for Mac? I downloaded several freebies back when I had this problem and I think Mp3tag was the one I kept. https://www.mp3tag.de/en/ I was actually having an additional problem with some mp3 tags and that was my car was showing the wrong album artwork. It turns out, album artwork is found in several places in these tags and with Mp3tag, I was able to find the offending artwork and delete it. It fixed a lot of files that had the wrong artwork but it took many hours of editing to do it. Good luck.
  14. Oh, I know that series well. I have several Ben Webster & Coleman Hawkins titles from it. But I have never seen that particular cover. I find that the vinyl isn't the best quality with them. If memory serves, there's a lot of surface noise even when the discs look mint. Truth be told, not many Verve pressings are all that great in the audio department. But I still wouldn't be without this Modern Jazz Sextet session. Great music however you're playing it back. I think I have Japanese pressings, both on LP & CD, of this date.
  15. Again - I have never used iTunes before. I just know that I had issues with using the wrong tag type before and this sounds similar. It may not be this but it's worth checking.
  16. WTF is that?!?! That is some weird shit. I prefer this one:
  17. It sounds like you may have accidentally turned on the wrong tag format in iTunes. There's V1 tags and V2 tags. You may have the wrong one turned on. If this is the problem, I can't help you. No iTunes here. I had this happen once in Exact Audio Copy. It screwed up all my music files for months. In Windows, there are tag editing programs. I fixed my broken tags this way. Maybe you can find one for Mac?
  18. If this thread doesn't belong in the "Artists" forum, we're really misinterpreting the word's meaning.
  19. I was hoping they would get in a copy but I got sick of waiting and ordered it today. Let's see if they get it. I may add the Beatles latest 50 anniversary box set of the White Album to the list but at $160... ouch.
  20. So on the second beat in the first measure, he adds that electronic double knock. The second time through, he makes it a triple knock and covers the first knock with that electronic pow. That must be what's making it harder for me to catch the beat. It just gives it a start-stop feeling that I often get with odd meters. What can I say? I'm a man with no rhythm (but I can clap on 2 & 4) John Fogerty did it on "Centerfield" and got sued for copying himself.
  21. It amazes me that he did everything on this track. No one played a note but him. He was quite the musician.
  22. Oh no - now I'm hearing imaginary ghost beats!! Those measures above still don't include that off beat "pow" drum sound nor where Prince layers in percussive keys that seem to simulate drums that also seem to be off beat. If it's really just 4/4, that's even better!! Ha ha ha.
  23. I don't think it's that simple. It's like 7/10 time or something weirder. That off-beat drum machine "pow" every other measure seems to throw the whole thing into Monk-land. I always knew there was a reason I liked that song. Maybe it's just 4/6 with an unusual beat tossed in there every other measure?
