I'm with you on "Dance With Death". I was excited to finally get my hands on it but when I finally did, it was "meh". But I am a fan of "Grass Roots" and I prefer the LP tracks. The bonus material from the earlier session seems less funky and taken at a lower boil. It might just be the slower tempos or it could be that I'm a Booker Ervin fan.

Your list looks incomplete. I know that Hill's "Grass Roots" was produced by Wolff: As was Hill's "Dance With Death":

Depending on the method used to remove his prostate, he could be overdoing it by going on a heavy tour right away. If they did an old-fashioned open surgery, they had to cut through some abdominal muscle, so he would have to take it easy physically for a few weeks. He could have had a setback if he overdid it. No matter how they did it, the inside stitches have to heal.

Resonance Records' Zev Feldman seems very open to talking about his work on these historic recordings. Has anyone ever thought of asking him why they decided to use "remix"? My feeling is that he would gladly talk about the process.

One of the few Rouse dates that I didn't like all that much. I suppose if I was more into that era's Jazz, I would dig it more.

Elemental is definitely "above board". My one question on this is if it's your typical concert hall recording from Japan. I hate that sound. I'd rather hear a shoddy boot than a cavernous hall with weird-timed clapping any day.

It sure was. I really love the energy here. And you can certainly tap your foot to this stuff... it's hard not to!

I've listened to the single CD version of this release a few times now and I would agree that it doesn't really say much new but it is a nice addition to the discography. Nothing earth shattering here. It sounds a lot like like what he was doing on other recordings of this period. "Slow Blues" was my favorite track.

I saw TEN (Terry Lynn Carrington, Esperanza Spalding & Nicholas Payton) at Scullers last night. There were some enjoyable moments and some less than enjoyable ones. I didn't know that Payton has become known as more of a keyboard player than a trumpet player. I much preferred his trumpet work.

Seeing these Ralph Peterson titles listed here as well as hearing people recommend them, reminds me how lucky I am that Ralph teaches at Berklee and plays around Boston often... particularly given Ralph's recent health troubles. I was glad to hear he is beating the Big C. I hope he keeps on keeping on. He's bringing his Messenger Legacy band to Scullers Oct. 10th. I can't wait.

Is there anything in the LP artwork that says how it was mastered? As I said earlier, I have no problem paying a bit more for an analog-cut LP but if it's cut from a digital master, I'll just buy the CD version.

Well, he is 82, so he'll have a few unexpected health issues from time to time. It comes with the territory.

I was taking a friend for drive in my Toyota Prius Prime while in electric mode and I got to a busy intersection with a stop sign. I said, "Watch this", and gunned it. We flew through that intersection. It's very fast off the line.

He posted to his Facebook page on May 16th and thanked everyone for birthday wishes back in February.

Local Boston legend, the singer Rebecca Parris, passed away recently, shortly after performing at a local club. My latest commuter car is a 2017 Toyota Prius Prime. It's a plug-in hybrid. I've been averaging over 68 mpg with it.

You really can't shop from home for used LPs. I've only ordered a few used LPs on line and they weren't in a condition that would have gotten me to buy them if they were on a store shelf. I won't buy a record with a scratch I can feel. Not worth it to me when I can just play the CD in most cases.
