  1. They should pay you for the advertising!
  2. I can only recall eating rouladen with a whole pickle inside once. It was a small gherkin pickle, not a whole dill pickle. At another place, there was a whole quarter lengths of a dill pickle in there, so the idea of a pickle that's not chopped up seems to be out there. Whole Gherkins - See:
  3. Your father's problem with rouladen is probably similar to any fan. Rouladen seems to be made differently at every German restaurant I've ever been in. Some have a whole pickle wrapped inside, some have ground pickle mixed into a filling and some don't have pickle at all. Some have bacon, some don't. Some have onions, some don't. It's weird.
  4. My only concern with a generic, "Clean all your contacts" statement is that some pots are designed to self-lubricate and when you clean them out, you can remove the lubrication created by use. It often comes out of a connector as black gunk. Not all black gunk is bad, Personally, I once destroyed a volume pot by cleaning out the lubrication. It eventually stopped rotating. I had to replace it. FWIW, most self-lubricating pots are sealed so that you cannot remove this lubricating junk. My rule of thumb is to wait until there's a problem and then fix it. I don't go creating them if I can help it. Editing to add: Spraying speaker connections would likely (I said likely!) have little effect because the major source of bad speaker connections is oxidation on the exposed copper. Not many sprays can do much with CuO. You usually have to use sandpaper to remove bad oxidation. If you use gold speaker connectors i.e. bananas or spades, then there's even less chance of doing much since gold doesn't oxidize. Having said this, I suppose spraying some compressed air into the speaker connectors would remove dust/dirt which can't hurt, but I would not waste De-Oxit in there. It's just a fluid that would be carrying that dust/dirt out. Air works fine for that.
  5. I took my Dad to Germany for a week in 1999. He was all excited to eat authentic German Bratwurst & Sauerkraut. I told him that I hadn't seen many restaurants selling that in my years of traveling there. We arrived in Munich and took a tour north. Würzburg, Frankfurt, Köln, etc. We did not go to one restaurant that had bratwurst & sauerkraut. Finally, we rented BMW motorcycles went on a tour of southern Germany and into Austria and Switzerland. At our first Austrian restaurant stop, my father literally yelled out, "They have bratwurst & sauerkraut"! I still laugh when I think about it. RIP Dad. We had fun, didn't we?
  6. Tonight, drummer Carl Allen is bringing his band to Scullers Jazz Club in Boston where they will be performing "The Art of Elvin". He's bringing Vincent Herring on sax, Eddie Allen on trumpet, Sullivan Fortner on piano and Yasushi Nakamura on bass.
  7. Did your printer get set into hex dump mode? See this page: https://files.support.epson.com/htmldocs/fx890_/fx890_rf/troub_1.htm To turn off hex dump, start printing a page, press Pause, press Load/Eject to eject the printed page and then shut off the printer. NOTE WELL: Caution: Do not turn off the printer while it is printing the hex dump. Always press the Pause button to stop printing and the Load/Eject button to eject the printed page before you turn off the printer.
  8. Look at Spotify's financials. If they pull in any more money, it's only going into their pockets so that they can stay afloat. They can't afford to give any more money to the artists because they still aren't making money themselves. I figure it's only a matter of time before Spotify folds. Pretty soon, it'll probably be iTunes or nobody.
  9. Isn't that the session where someone said it was because of Connors' drum playing that it will never get released? EDIT: Here's where we talked about it before -
  10. Didn't Pono go belly-up?
  11. Now those prices are back down again. This is weird. I looked the other day and they were higher. Is there more than one product listing? Oh well, I have one on order. No use worrying now...
  12. I almost ordered one as well. Lots of positives to go with the negs. But I thought it was weird that a seller would list so many used copies of a brand new box set.
  13. That seller had too many negatives so I avoided them.
  14. $29.35 here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/401513085097 Ordered one. Let's see if I get it.
  15. WTF is going on with the price of this set?? I have this material but I figured for $25, I'd upgrade it all. But $50? No way! Is this weird price jump due to availability or were all of the pre-orders mispriced?
  16. Yeah, that was sad that they had to do all those fundraisers to help Billy get his liver transplant. I sent in what I could and Billy himself sent me a thank you via postcard. I still have it somewhere. Here it is...
  17. Good to hear that he's back out there. He was injured back in February and had to cancel a few gigs. I hope he can make his way back to Boston soon. I was amazed to read that his wife Toshiko turned 88 in December.
  18. One of the best concerts I ever saw included Jackie McLean fronting his quartet with Cedar Walton, David Williams & Billy Higgins. Like you, I'll remember that one for the rest of my life. It was special.
  19. The Billy Higgins CD is gone but these others are still here. I will probably toss them in the next couple of days so if anyone wants them, speak up. Kevin
  20. Um... not for me. I'll bow out of the discussion since I have no idea if this is good free jazz or not.
  21. Great record! I'll have to pull it off the shelf later. I play the CD often. The CD adds a few hard-to-find JATP performances from their Paris show in 1958.
  22. What's unusual is that Mosaic's E-mail from yesterday specifically mentions, " We are in the process of sorting out and assembling a number of Mosaic collectibles (no lists are yet compiled or available)." It would seem that they are only sending out a list to people who ask and live too far away to be able to attend the open house sale in CT. If they wanted a list published, I think that they'd have published it.
  23. It still seems weird to have to think "the late Dwayne Burno".
  24. Is that an analog recording or a digital one?
  25. Leo P(ellegrino) is already somewhat known as the dancing Jazz guy. He plays in Too Many Zooz and there are several videos of him going crazy on a bari while dancing around in a NYC subway station. I really dig his playing. He's fun for what is shooting for. It's not like he's trying to be the next Joe Lovano.
