  1. 2012 Toyotas and 2016 Subaru USB playback has a shuffle option. I switched over to mainly USB playback in my cars. I have two 64 GB sticks (1 for Rock, 1 for Jazz) in my Camry. You can put a whole lot of music on a 64 GB stick. There is a trick to get glitch-free playback with a large USB sticks like this though. You need to minimize the number of folders you use because then the file name gets too big. What I do is just copy the individual tracks onto the stick. I haven't had any problems since.
  2. This series is only 25 titles so it was almost done. It certainly does seem like Audio Wave/Elusive Disc is taking a long time to get the last 5 titles out. Maybe the sales on the earlier titles was so poor that they stopped? As sonnymax mentioned above, these are being released by Elusive Disc (Audio Wave) so you could e-mail them to see what's up.
  3. The article says that he has had 6 (!) heart surgeries, 2 of them "major" and he is 74, so I would guess that his health is probably the most important factor in his decision to take it easy.
  4. Gary Burton to retire after 13 concerts in eight cities across 17 days in March. From his website: http://www.garyburton.com/news/this-is-it-gary-announces-his-retirement-from-the-jazz-world/
  5. Contact Dusty Groove (www.dustygroove.com)/ They would probably be able to help you out with distribution in the US.
  6. I like how the artwork mimics the original 1987 Beatles Revolver CD, from the obvious cover art to the not so obvious layout & font of the back cover. Most people would mimic the LP. I like how this mimics the CD.
  7. Do a Google image search and you'll get an idea of the place. Since it's tent that is open on the sides, the audio all comes from the speakers that flank the stage. They seem to crank it up to get it out to the tables outside the tent so it is always loud. Personally, I would not want to get too close to that stage. My ears ring enough already. I saw the J. Geils Band there a couple of years ago and it was too loud. I saw Huey Lewis recreate his "Sports" album there as well and it was so loud I had to wear earplugs. Hopefully Jarre is able to tone it down.
  8. Bad link. This one might work: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/23/sports/football/bernie-custis-dead-first-black-pro-quarterback.html?_r=0
  9. The Blue Hills Bank Pavilion is not my favorite concert venue and I wonder how Jarre's music would fare in that place. It's a big outdoor tent and May 16th is a bit early in the season. Might be a bit cool.
  10. There are times when I think I'm missing something when all these recommendations start coming in for certain players who play a bit on the "outside". Then I play one like this: .. and I realize that I am not missing much. I really don't get this at all and I'm now at an age where I'm beginning to realize that I probably never will. Weirdly, I had a flashback at around the 6:50 mark. It sounds very similar to when our long-deceased golden retriever Abigail got caught in a barbed wire fence when we lived in Pennsylvania.
  11. I'll be laid up and unable to travel for a few weeks so I'm out. Let me know the next time you'll be in Boston. Although I live in Maine now, it's not that far.
  12. This tie: https://www.allaboutjazz.com/media/large/e/d/7/12e4d356630b4ef5049a238881cb3.jpg
  13. From Dusty: Dear Kevin, Thanks for the heads up! We haven't seen a solicitation from our distributor yet, but it sounds like something we'd like to carry. We'll keep an eye out for it. We don't have a waiting list system, but check back on our 'Coming Soon' section.
  14. I just E-mailed Da Bastids (Dusty Groove) to ask them if they're going to carry it. I would rather order it from them if only to save on the exorbitant shipping that HMV Japan is charging.
  15. They want $17 to ship a $17.80 CD to Maine! Ouch. I may have to wait for Da Bastids to get this. Why can't I select PayPal as a payment option?
  16. I gotta get this one. I haven't used HMV Japan in a long time. Should I pre-order or wait? Hmmmmm.
  17. I always liked reading Sandi's stories. Now that the All About Jazz forum is dead, are her little stories gone too? Did anyone ever back them up off of the forum?
  18. I've read that Mark Wilder digitized all of Brubeck's Columbia/Sony catalog and that there were plans to issue all of it in the form of those 5 CD "Original Album Classics" box sets that they started in 2010. The fact that they stopped after 2 boxes would seem to indicate that the money wasn't there. Then when they issued that "The Complete Columbia Studio Albums Collection" box set, I was thinking a "The Complete Columbia Live Albums Collection" was next. I just think the CD market is on its way out.
  19. I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but I used to post there regularly until I got into a major disagreement with Mike Ricci over what I felt was a joke done in very poor taste. His attitude was "If you don't like it, leave". So I left and never went back.
  20. On top of this, this title may be one of the ones where the newer OJC pressing sounds better than the original. I've found a few like that.
  21. I do too but i will add that the S3 version (the last version B&W issued) included the improved Nautilus tweeter and should be the version you get.
  22. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bowers-and-Wilkins-B-W-DM601-S3-Speakers-/112269191414?hash=item1a23c3e8f6:g:gPUAAOSwt5hYenwO Wait until after the auction and offer $350 including shipping?
  23. Depending on the age, old Snells will probably need re-foamed woofers. Worst case, they may need re-foamed *and* new capacitors in the crossover. My friend had some old B&W speakers that improved tremendously when he re-capped them. BTW, that might be what happened to your old Cambridge Soundworks speakers, You can re-foam them too but the grill has to be pried off with a screwdriver. I did it without damaging the speaker but it was tricky.
