  1. Joseph Jarman's "Inheritance" on Four Star is a favorite (but/and I'm likely to feel that way about most of Jarman's works).
  2. Monday afternoon, I enjoyed the Sam Rivers Mosaic, Discs 2 and 3.
  3. I didn't say that PJ had particularly low skills as a coach. I just don't see him as having the right kind of mindset that has driven the tough, defensive-minded Pistons ensembles to success. Perhaps even more key to Phil's success with any team, there aren't (m)any more Michael Jordans, and I don't see a lot of athletic and healthy monster Shaq-types coming down the pike.
  4. BruceW, you may disagree with my I-could-be-wrong-but-I-doubt-it evaluation of Phil Jackson, but please do not reduce my reservations about Phil to things he said about the Pistons years ago. I've been a usually-ardent NBA fan since I saw Elgin Baylor and Jerry West play at the L.A. Sports Arena (and then the Fabulous Forum) when I was a kid. Let's just agree to disagree about Phil's skillz, for now, and root for the Pistons. :bwallace2:
  5. I doubt that Phil has the skills or the character to coach the Pistons. He's no Larry Brown, Rick Carlisle or Chuck Daly.
  6. I sure hope that Phil wouldn't come to Detroit. I've intensely disliked Phil Jackson since the "Bad Boys" days, when, in Chicago, he was talking about "saving basketball" from the Pistons. I've seen no evidence that Jackson himself can build or sustain a team. He's relied on rosters with superstar(s) and decent assistant coaches for the considerable success that he's had. I hope that Dumars would not make such a Dorko move.
  7. Billy Bang - "Vietnam: Reflections" Stevie Wonder - "Fulfillingness' First Finale" (replacing damaged CD)
  8. I agree about Nero Cover Designer. I started with an old program called Jewlinr (I still sometimes use it, even though it's not really XP-compatible or WYSIWYG). I've tried many others since then; each does some things more intuitively than others. Now I usually use Paint Shop Pro 9.
  9. I've always been fond of Steve Swallow's playing, both acoustic and electric. I like Gary Burton's pre-ECM recordings much better than most of his ECM stuff.
  10. Happy Birthday, Jim! GO PISTONS! :bwallace2: :bwallace2:
  11. exactly what I was thinking, Chuck ← Indeed!
  12. I'm a devoted Pistons fan, and I'm really looking forward to this series, precisely because its outcome is the most complete mystery to me in this year's playoffs.
  13. I've heard the versions on "Forest Flower", "Soundtrack", and "Voice in the Night". I chose the 1966 version, because of its ubiquity over many decades.

  15. I have an old RX2 with the original (!) MMC2 cartridge in my closet. I don't usually do vinyl anymore, but that low-mass combo served me quite well for almost 15 years. It still sounded fine, tracked almost anything, warps and all, and treated my records very gently. The RX2 also has an exceptional suspension. I gave up vinyl for various reasons that I've discussed in other threads, but I'd stick with B&O for that purpose. I've never heard any magic from Grado cartridges, and the budget Grados, at least (based on the experiences of friends who kept gettting them), don't last very long, even with much more expensive turntables.

  17. That's why piano or pianoless is not is not an issue for me.
