  1. You seem have an agenda here, but it's not the corporations who are planning to destroy materials - including 78s, scores, manuscripts, liner notes, etc. - unless you're talking about the CBC as a corporation.
  2. I don't know what the intention of the thread starter was, but I had the feeling that sooner or later every pianist in jazz history would be mentioned.
  3. Destroy everything. Who cares about culture or history?
  4. Leo Smith: Spirit Catcher (Nessa)
  5. Man, with those long fingers, it's not hard to see at least part of the reason why he became a pianist.

    BFF's

Such an amazing shot of Sonny, A man for the ages.
  9. Jimmy Raney: The Influence (Xanadu/Prevue)
  10. A good one that's slipped through the cracks, to some extent.
  11. Bernard MacLaverty: Midwinter Break
  12. Django in Rome - CD D Sometimes when I listen to Django's recordings, I find myself doing a subconscious Dean Benedetti/Bird thing - just listening to Django and tuning out the other musicians.
  13. Joe Morris Trio: Symbolic Gesture (Soul Note)
  14. Mose Allison: Local Color
  15. I agree. Not my favorite Ellington, but still a favorite.
  16. Two tenor classics.
  17. Charles Gayle Trio: Homeless
  18. Detectorists - Series 1 Thanks to Chuck for posting a mention of this, which led me to watch it - entertaining, funny, and moving.
  19. I should have added Wes to that mention of Getz. It appears to me that jazz - whether pop influenced or not - outsold the straight pop acts on Verve - at least during the early to mid 60's.
  20. I'll bet that Getz sold better than any of the pop acts - the Mothers, Hardin, Ian, Blues Project.
  21. Thanks for posting the link. Sonny comes across as an honest and strong man.
  22. Muddy Waters: One More Mile
