  1. Nice listening session!
  2. Great card! And it says a lot that your son cared enough to create it.
  3. Clifford Brown - Max Roach: Live at the Bee Hive
  4. Barnes-Bocage Big Five (American Music) One of the more interesting traditional jazz recordings that Jeff has tipped me off to.
  5. Hank Mobley - Lee Morgan: Peckin' Time
  6. In the A Great Day in Harlem video, Mr. Hentoff says that Lester Young wasn't well enough to stand and perform when the Basie band performed on The Sound of Jazz. He was supposed to be seated during the performance of "Fine and Mellow", but he did stand up to play that beautiful solo. That solo and Billie's facial expressions during it never fail to touch my heart.
  7. Count Basie: Chairman of the Board
  8. Hope it was a Happy Birthday for you!
  9. I like that one a lot!
  10. Texas Rhythm and Blues (Ace)
  11. Jug: Nice an' Cool
  12. Albert Ayler: Swing Low Sweet Spiritual (Osmosis)
  13. Paul Smoker Trio: Alone (Sound Aspects)
  14. Miles at the Blackhawk (Mosaic) - LP 1 A favorite Miles band - I know that there are some who don't appreciate Hank Mobley here, but I'm not among them. Hearing this band recorded live is a big plus.
  15. I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed by the album. I wasn't.
  16. They sure wrote a lot of hit songs, and some good ones that should have been hits.
  17. Very good cut - very good album
  18. Allen Eager: In the Land of Oo-Bla-Dee 1947 - 1953
  19. Baby Face Willette: Stop and Listen
  20. Bud Freeman: All Star Swing Sessions
  21. Philly Joe: Blues for Dracula
