  5. Just relistened to Morning Song on Delmark. Remembered liking it, but this time it sounded even better than I had remembered.
  6. I don't have it, so I'm not sure. AMG throws Shirley Scott's name in there too http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:gcfqxq8gld6e . Perhaps Larry can straighten it out.
  7. Don't have it and have never heard it, so I can't add to any discussion, but there are used copies here

  10. Was flicking through the channels on Saturday & came across an late 70's Lawrence Welk show on a PBS station. Thought I detected Barney Kessel and Earl Palmer in the ryhthm section, and sure enough it was they. Kept watching in the hopes that one or both would get a solo. Earl Palmer was featured on a couple of short breaks, but that was it. Wonder if it was a one time thing.

  13. Surprising that the writer never mentioned the time Henry Grimes spent playing with Cecil Taylor - probably a longer period than the time he spent with any of the other musicians who are mentioned.
  14. Yesterday, actually - in the mailbox: Roscoe Mitchell/Tatsu Aoki: First Look (Southport) Fred Anderson: Black Horn Long Gone (Southport) - Not only Mr. Anderson, but a chance to hear Malachi Favors again.
  15. Sir Roland Hanna Hard Hearted Hannah August Darnell
  16. Carl Hiaasen: Sick Puppy Perhaps if more people read Hiaasen's novels and took them to heart, we might have a lot less voters in this country. In my more cynical moments, I think that might not be a bad thing.
  17. John Lee Hooker: "Lowdown Midnight Boogie" from Southern Blues (Savoy/Arista LP) Free, intense, magical, frightening music.
  18. Prayers and hopes for Ornette.
