Thanks for posting updates and your support to Mr.Murray, John and Brownie. Sunny deserves a lot of support from the jazz community now, hope he will get out of this bad state and get in better shape through the summer.

Would like to check out that Blue Potato!

It might be for a reason based on people's experiences. Do you mean that Facebook should not be criticised? And that it's only a positive thing for everyone, including 13 year old kids? Does this enormous virtual network that has taken over many people's lives and decide what they mean, how they expose themselves to the world, and will be there forever, not have any negative aspects?
-
A quite thorough article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Facebook

Facebook can also be a nice place for people to make a fool of themselves posting when drunk, for 13 year old girls to expose themselves to older boys and men in an effective way, for people to show how boring they really are by posting uninteresting details from daily stuff, school children that have fewer friends than some of their more "popular" class mates feel bad about it, girlfriends use it as a place to connect with their exes, some people post pictures of friends without asking them, it's used by extremist networks to recruit young people, teachers adding only some of their students as friends and so on. And now the place might be opened for kids... http://www.geek.com/articles/news/facebook-is-working-on-accounts-for-kids-2012064/

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to him. A true master and mentor of modern jazz drumming. Keep the spirit high.

Some hot playing there! Thanks for posting. -

Would really like to get a hold of this one. Not a lot of reasons for getting hold of this one though. Unfortunately. They opened the floodgates. It scores quite well over at allmusic.com though: http://www.allmusic.com/album/slightly-latin-mw0001879667

This seems like some great stuff! Tompkins Square does their packages very well.

It might be true that Facebook can be used for positive activities and have some network building effect for some, but it's also important to note that it also brings many problems for a lot of people. This is problems like breaking up relationships because of people exposing themselves to previous partners, giving young people a tool to expose themselves now in a way that will not be to their advantage when they grow up, filling up people's time with mundane communication like posting when they wake up and water their plants and stuff. There is too much of a vibe that everyone is at Facebook so it should be OK in all aspects, and not enough discussion of the negative aspects of using fragile virtual networks like this in my opinion. Some more discussions of this on the web: http://www.theindiansabroad.com/2010/09/ten-anti-social-effects-of-facebook/ http://www.sortoflife.com/home/2011/11/negative-aspects-of-facebook/ http://observer.com/2011/07/with-friends-like-these-4/ http://sickfacebook.com/

Mr.Cosey was a great and original guitarist who brought experimental and adventurous sounds to the blues. Especially love his playing on Muddy Waters' "After The Rain" album. RIP A joint tribute to Doc Watson and Pete Cosey here: http://culturecatch.com/music/doc-watson-pete-cosey
