  8. This has to be good! That novel 5,271,009 is worth the price of the book on its own, and a lot of other classic Bester novels makes this a must-read!
  9. Top of the crop Science Fiction with a touch of the surreal by a master of the genre.
  10. Happy Birthday to a great man and artist!
  11. V.A. - Life Is A Problem Class gospel, you gotta hear Sister OM Terrell.
  12. This is the coolest cite today I dare to say: The "3-Sided Dream" album was a "concept album," somewhat akin to the Beatles' "psychedelic" phase in the incorporation of "found" or environmental sounds and tape loops, tapes being played backwards, etc. Snippets of Billie Holiday singing are also heard briefly. The album even confronts the rise of influence of computers in society, as Rahsaan threatens to pull the plug on the machine trying to tell him what to do. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_Kirk
  13. Bonnie Prince Billy - Is It The Sea?
  14. Is there a reason why we don't like these kind of curmudgeons? Let him be happy with his compressed MP3s on his crappy sounding headphones while he is reading the latest celebrity news, and keep him out of the music scene.
  15. I go with Louis. Playing live in Australia is much better than hanging out at celebrity weddings.
  16. It says at the top of the article that A.Kurtz is Jazz.com's resident curmudgeon. He might be able to live up to that if he keeps on like this.
  17. It took two years of pestering to get the Columbia go-ahead and I also had to do a lot of convincing (with John Hammond's help) to get mono approval—the powers at Columbia were certain that phony stereo was called for. They were proven wrong, the albums sold beyond any expectations. Thanks for the good words. I have loved those Columbia LP's for years, wonderful releases.
  18. Here is another site with many Chronologicals: http://www.chapitre.com/search/Default.asp...cs&chapsid=
