    Rare Blue Notes

well, "the rajah" can't be that rare. even i have a copy of this cd, and i don't own any really rare stuff. by the way: great album! i only wish it would have some real blue note cover art. that cover looks soo 1980s
  2. i have the old tocj of this mclean album. it does not have any alternates. is this one ok? please say, yes! a simple yes is all i need now!
  3. well, maybe the original tapes for that album did get some kind of razor blade treatment and that's the reason why the same error pops up again? hey, please, no problems with the two grant & baby face albums!
  4. doesn't blue note have some kind of archive for their own releases?
  5. don't miss caramba! it's one of the best lee morgan albums from the 1960s!
  6. in other words: "each one she passes goes aaahhhh ... " regarding the elenco reissues (see the post by king ubu) ... i have about 7 of these albums ... my favs from this lot are the maysa (s/t) and the nara leao (nara), especially the nara album ... the maysa album also gets the prize for best cover art
  7. yes, sir! Walter Wanderley - Samba no Esquema de Walter Wanderley Luiz Bonfa - Violão e o Samba Quarteto Novo - Quarteto Novo Joao Donato - Cha Dancante Eumir Deodato - Idéia Elizeth Cardoso & Ciro Monteiro - A Bossa Eterna de Elizeth e Ciro
  8. no, i don't know anything. but i just found out that amazon.de has sound samples of these albums.
  9. as of now this album is still in print, a cd-version from 1999. but ... happy to see that the rvg-series is still alive!
  10. /watch?v=s6N5ygsdW38 this the billie poole you are searching for?
  11. Thanks - I THINK I remember Cathy Carr (I must be giving away YOUR age ). I only knew of the label through Bill Parson's (Bobby Bare) "All American boy" and a record of Chuck Berry's "Memphis" by some country rock guitarist whose name I've forgotten. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lonnie_Mack
  12. maria toledo ! she was the female singer on some bossa tracks by stan getz. i always wanted to hear more of her singing. has anybody already heard this album by maria toledo & luis bonfa?
  13. found some more informations on this release, including a full track list: Stan Getz: Vancouver Concert 1965 i guess the music from the vancouver concert is very similar to the paris concert from 1966 ("jazz in paris: stan getz quartet in paris") ... or am i wrong?
  14. thanks for posting this to answer the question you didn't ask: according to her wikipedia entry she has "very, very thick pubic hair, which she nurtured by combing it from age of eighteen" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rasa_von_Werder
  15. Miles Davis - Complete Live Recordings 1948-55, on United Archives
  16. you've missed the great ricky nelson who started his career in 1957 with two singles on the verve label ("teenagers romance" & "you're my one and only love" - with barney kessel on guitar)! also ... i think it could be argued that the case of stan getz does not fit too well with your argument ... by the time getz became a verve artist he still was a young and upcoming artist, at least i think so ... he certainly wasn't "past his prime"
  17. i really don't understand your argument ... no one here has stated that kenny burrell is the living proof that chet atkins wasn't a great guitar player ... no doubt, there have been a ton of great guitar players, especially in country and rockabilly music ... chet atkins, hank garland , cliff gallup ,grady martin and so on ... but, what does that tell us about kenny burrell? if you don't like kenny burrell than go and listen to chet atkins ... where's the problem?
  18. i gues i really have to buy this album (soul call). i like "midnight blue" and "bluesy burrell" very much. but, where can i get a cd-copy of "tender gender"? it's out of print ... or is it not? has there ever been a cd reissue of "tender gender"?
  19. congratulations to the spanish team!
  20. still no definitive news on the condition of europe's most important calf-muscle.
  21. $200 for another audiophile version of "saxophone colossus" ? no, thanks. :rsmile: for this amount of money you can buy yourself 20 cd reissues at midprice ... i'm just saying
  22. 10 out of 20. problem is that many of this candy bars are completly unkown to me because who can't find them in the shops here in germany. and ... thanks for reminding me that i have to go to the dentist next week.
