  1. That is funny.
  2. Yes, but would they still call that a remix? But I don't mean doing it just like Bird did it.
  3. You're right it's not that simple, and that is not how I intended it to be. I'm not slamming dudes that sample and mix. It may be a mark of respect and may be a direct form of homage is some cases but not all. Have you listened to some of the current shit out there? It seems like more of an easy way out than a show of respect. I don't think this (Bird Up) is a case of not intending to show respect, I'm just saying that in my opinion the mission was not accomplished.
  4. I did hear it, otherwise I would not have spoke up.
  5. I agree. I often find myself laughing about what DEEP posts, but too many times I've seen good people be the target of the bullshit, and leave as a result of it. Dude has major knowledge and experience and should/could be an asset, but the constant fucking with other members does get old. Let's look at it this way. DEEP is pretty much here by way of default. He has been banned at Jazz Corner and AAJ. How much posting did he do here before that? I remember how he used to go on about AAJ being the real shit, and now all of a sudden it's Organissimo is the real deal. What else is he going to say? I'm not down with the idea of banning him, but it's not cool to lose solid members as a result of his ways. I don't think this is a lack of a sense of humor issue for most, we never seemed to have a problem laughing here before and sure we can all ignore it, but as Shawn or as I like to call him Shane points out we are loosing some pretty damn fine people in the process. So to DEEP I say, your schtick can be and is funny and I would not mind you hanging here, but does it all have to be about you? Does it always have to be so in the face? Lord knows I have had my disagreements with Albertson when it comes to politics, but I look forward to his contributions to this board, as I do with many others here. If you are willing, by all means share the knowledge and make us laugh, but leave the rest of the shit behind.
  6. Erroll Garner was a big grunter. Although not really singing, Ellington was extremely vocal during performances. However he did do a sing-a-long on the Live at the Whitney date. Drummers used to make some noise, Sam Woodyard and Sonny Payne are two examples.
  7. Did Coltrane dub himself in? This stuff may very well be hip, but I don't think it does anything to promote or pay respect to the genius of Parker, and frankly I don't see any creativity in it. Parker had it right the first time, leave it at that.
  8. Obscure my ass! I know for sure track 1 has Zamfir on the pan flute, and I'm next to positive that track 2 is none other than former BNBB star Kathy Reynolds. Track 6 sounds to me like the end result of Prince pulling Arsenio Hall's finger, but in reality it could be anybody. JS, I need a hint... Seriously, I'm looking forward to my first time participating in the AOTW fun!
  9. My thoughts exactly Lon.
  10. You do realize a filibuster last week blocked some of these appointees from reaching the high court? You must have read about it in the papers, no? Johnny E. and Weizen actually joined forces and read the entire Martha Stewart cookbook for 48 hours straight, simlutaneously, and with Weizen inserting beer in place of egg yolks for every recipe. It was too much for any one to take.
  11. Word.
  12. Leave it and consider it pro-active.
  13. I'll miss seeing Schilling in a D-Backs uniform, but I'm glad to see the deal was made for Sexson.
  14. Brewers trade Sexson December 2, 2003 The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired slugger Richie Sexson from Milwaukee in a nine-player deal Monday that sent infielder Craig Counsell and second baseman Junior Spivey to the Brewers. First baseman Lyle Overbay, catcher Chad Moeller and left-handers Jorge De La Rosa and Chris Capuano also were dealt to Milwaukee. In addition to Sexson, Arizona received left-hander Shane Nance and a player to be named. Sexson had 45 home runs and 124 RBIs last season. Arizona had no player with more than 26 home runs last season. He has a .273 average with 191 home runs in six major league seasons with Cleveland and Milwaukee. Sexson, 28, earns $8.6 million next year, the final season of his contract. He was the Brewers' most popular player, but with the franchise looking to cut its already meager payroll to about $30 million next season, his salary was too high.
  15. Exactly.
