  1. Parmigiano crusted Halibut, with sun dried tomato & balsamic tortellini salad.
  2. Growing your own eggplant, that is impressive.
  3. I actually prefer cooking for one. If it turns out bad, I'm the only one that knows, so my record stays intact.
  4. Grilled chicken wings and following Chuck's lead with fresh fruit dessert. Strawberries, blackberries, and rasberries.
  5. 30 year ago? Damn, that's being hard, considering the great movies credited to each of their careers.
  6. Bistecca Fiorentina I know very well. I even know a guy that keeps Chianina near New York. Abbacchio can be found but it's not easy. A specialty butcher in Fresh Meadows (Ottomanelli) carries it at times. I don't eat much of any lamb, so I don't search for it. Did have it prepared for me though, but it was all the way up in Fidenza of all places.
  7. I think the indirect grilling method keeps them from cooking too quickly (as opposed to cooking them right over the coals). The marinade shouldn't burn much unless it drips directly on the coals. If there's a sugar-based sauce it goes on right at the end and for a very short time, just long enough to carmelize. Yep. And you can use a drip pan for added flare up protection.
  8. Now that's what I'm talkin' about! So will 40 minutes on the grill make the skin crispy? That's the critical issue w/chicken wings IMO. I usually go a little longer and if they aren't crispy enough, I crank the heat up on one side and go direct for a few minutes while basting them. There is no shortage of flavor on these little suckers.
  9. Marinating some chicken wings in olive oil, tabasco, garlic, lemon juice, worcestershire, salt and pepper. Will cook them tonight on the grill indirectly for about 40 minutes.
  10. Calzone - fennel sausage, potato, roasted red peppers and spinach.
  11. Doubled? I was reading we could expect an average increase of 20 cents due to Hurricanes. We'll be lucky if that is the worst of it.
  12. Judging by the shot of his hands, it's as if they wanted you to think the B3 was the entire orchestra.
  13. Shit, I didn't even know there were actual "Fletch" books. Teenager: Are you a cop? Fletch: As far as you know. Teenager: Are you gonna take me to jail for car theft? Fletch: Why? Did you steal the car? Teenager: I sure did. Fletch: Well, I'm not even sure that's a crime anymore. There've been a lot of changes in the law.
  14. That's some of the things I noticed. In my case they listed a grocery store practically a mile away, but there is a lot of small markets very close and that is where I do most of the shopping. I'm also within walking distance of the train, but they factor public transit convenience in.
  15. I think they give L.A. a 50 point handicap.
  16. I thought this was interesting. I wouldn't exactly call it completely accurate, but it's still a decent guideline. Story In New York, I do good... 83 out of 100 The place I keep in Phoenix, ranked poor, scoring only 17 of 100. I can't imagine anyplace in Phoenix scoring high. Walk Score
  17. Spaghettini with spinach basil pesto.
  18. Does Freebie and the Bean count as obscure? I always thought it was a popular well known movie but have come across very view that ever saw it, or at least remember seeing it. Two scary movies I remember seeing as a youngster with my older brother and sisters... Let's Scare Jessice To Death (71) and The Legend of Hell House (73).
  19. I don't know about biggest, but he is up there.
  20. Congratulations, Flurin. And, no, you're not the only one that likes both dogs and cats.
  21. That's odd; he makes me laugh the way Richard Nixon once did. That is, not at all. Probably an age thing, but it amazes me that two of my favorite comedians could give birth to this completely unfunny person. I've said before, Stiller gets on my nerves. Don't know how to describe it other that he is an annoying spaz. His acting never seems natural and the comedy comes off as forced in a "Friends" type of way. I've got admit though, it worked in this movie.
  22. Wasn't that a James Bond movie title?
