  2. Looks like a fantastic book! Thanks for sharing.
  3. That Fats Centennial is GREAT. My next one is Dylan's "New Morning." Been on a kick of this period Dylan lately and dug out my lp and it's non beuno. . .
  4. I like the McDuff too, I find ti more New Orleans funk than rock, and it's different. I've gotten to the point that I really appreciate Blue Notes that are DIFFERENT than the formulaic norm.
  5. I wish I had a dollar for everytime that "Sweet and Lovely" OR "Come Rain or Shine" pops into my head and makes me whistle a bit.

    Rita Reys

A longstanding Dutch singer. Her website: http://www.geocities.com/ritareys/ Fontana put that session with Bu out on cd about eight or so years ago. . . interesting.
  7. That Joplin box set is da bomb.
  8. I met Donald once and really enjoy his book. So sorry to read the story about Linda, thanks for sharing Chris.
  9. I didn't even look at the list, sorry. It was the only Audioquest cd I had so I knew it was "out there." It's pretty good, interesting, need to dig it out again.
  10. Is that all? Some people are so easily confused! That's the one!
  11. Half.com shows this as being a 1989 Denon cd, looks good (they don't have it in stock). I've never heard it. Song List 1. Don't You Know I Care 2. Caravan 3. Day Dream 4. Satin Doll 5. I Got It Bad And That Ain't Good 6. Prelude To A Kiss Album Notes Personnel: Archie Shepp (tenor & soprano saxophones), Walter Davis (piano), Earl May (bass), Philly Joe Jones (drums).
  12. Sumbitch should stick to Jobim!
  13. I thought it was about G W. . . don't know why.
  14. Hmmm. . . I wonder if I would be content to stay in LA and do film scoring? I guess regarding the Newton I should have said "It's trippy." Much clearer, right?
  15. Welcome! Glad to have you here and please stay!
  16. Hey how did I get involved in this? I maintain: You can call me Lon, and you can call me Lonnie, but you don't have to call me Lonson! (Isn't that sort of how it goes?)
  17. Hey, I sort of wish I could have waited and gotten the set for anywhere near what you did; I think I paid 90 or more!

    Greg Osby

In my opinion the best from him so far is "Symbols of Light, A Solution"--quartet augmented with string players and excellent writing and performing.
  19. You know this "Legacy Edition" is a nice series, but not as nice as the series that inspired it, the Universal "Deluxe Edition" series. Now THAT is a great series!
  20. Look at the bright side. . . yourmusic.com will probably carry it!
  21. Maybe he's getting them from yourmusic.com for 35 dollas (or 42 dollars if he's a 5.99 member) and making a few dollars on ebay!
  22. I think I sort of agree with almost anyone here. . . And I certainly agree that this is one great reissue that I bought on the day of release. . . ! I agree with Chuck for the most part, that Pres was nearly superhuman and then became so deeply human. . . . I love the whole work. Thank God for Lester Willis!
  23. Loved whether want to be loved or not. . . that is one damned good thing. . . ! Extend my congratulations to the Loe Day creator, and have a great love day everyone!
  24. Many more happy happy ones Big A!
