No, mine is definitely defective. It stops and then starts and then stops and then starts. A manufacturing defect. I'll send it back after I've determined it does this on all my machines. (So far I've only tried it in my Sony universal player that is modified to have a tubed output; this machine generally plays everything so it probably behaves the same way in my other players, but I haven't verified that.) I totally dig this disc otherwise! Thanks for weighing in!

Wow! I couldn't have had a more different reaction. . . well yes, I could. I didn't LOVE the movie, I just thought it was fascinating; the technical reproduction of the comic book world was amazing. I saw it again this weekend with another friend who talked me into going. I reveled in the scenes with Rosario Dawson (Gail). She's a stunning woman!

Maigret eh? I can't imagine watching a British version of Maigret, but the Simenon novels are wonderful (actually, ALL Simenon is worth reading in my opinion, or rather all that I've read, I'm trying to read it all!)

I watched "Rush Hour 2" again (first time was in the theater) this weekend as part of my Ziyi Zhang kick! It was a lot of fun.

Anybody else have problems with the final cut on "Black Gypsy"? Mine is defective. Guess I'll send it back. .. .

"Oh Yeah" is one of the two Epic lps. That and half the other is collected on the Columbia cd "Unsung Hero". . . . I recommend this cd! I also like his work as coleader of Les Jazz Modes, though it's a bit different!

His Epic stuff is wonderful. I'm a fan. I love the It Club recordings. . .they're pretty solid representations of his work with Monk and something to be proud of!

The Japanese "Night Dreamer" JRVG from a few years back was much prefered by me to the McMaster. Weird. I haven't heard the new one yet.

I think the largest difference is likely that the Five Spot was recorded via a tape deck in someone's handbag or at at table, within the audience, while the European recordings are from a large hall sound system recorded for broadcast professionally, or from a private recording of that broadcast in a fan's home. . . .

Okay, I've had Berimbaum for about 18 hours now. . . Man I dig this! Definitely a tastefully done fusion of the contemporary with the classic. The result is one of those rare albums that frees itself from the cliches of the genre, even though it uses them, presenting them in a new light. Paula sings beautifully. There are some devestatingly good use of low horns, drum machines, synth sounds, and sampled guitars etc. Some parts sound like Laswell dub-productiong (which is meant as a compliment). Some sound like nothing else quite that I've heard. The sonics and the mix are just great. Fun fun music and I'm going to be enjoying and recommending this for some time!

My last order was a copy of "Gitte Haening and the Clarke Boland Big Band" to replace some worn vinyl, and the fourth volume of Solal Vogue recordings. Should have it soon. Can't wait!

Hmmm. . . . I'm not sure that the one on Collectables WAS in the Japanese Pres box, but it may have been. (I got the Collectabes before the Pres box anyway, so it was new to me). Sure sounds better!
