I think the noninclusion was just a size matter. Keeping the set at a manageable, possibly affordable, size.
This material is going to be really fun jazz. Soulful and solid. I'll look for some sites with clips though I'm not thinking of any off the top of my head. I have nearly all this stuff and it's good time good feeling music !
Well, I think they're walking the line. They offer the music and an undersized cover . . . They figure if you don't like that you'll track down an import or OOP cd. . .
Actually seems to me that Verve is utilizing also items recently remastered and released in Japan (the Basies and a few others). . . .
Interesting! Waste not want not!
A bit of this material came out on cd in Japan last year.
Some of us got these and now are facing the prospect of getting a Mosaic!
Haven't they heard the song "Don't be cruel to a heart that's true?"
I guess I could have more clearly said "Still to come" as I know of no plans to release more of the material, but really want more of the Savoy out on cd.
In time, I hope. I have lps . . . some a little worn.
Yesterday, cduniverse shipped me these four for #13.29 each.
Tes Estat by Shorter, Alan
Uhuru Na Umoja by Wright, Fran
Roswell Rudd by Rudd, Roswell
Black Gipsy by Shepp, Archie
I'm set for a while!
From Impulse there is at the least:
A Flat, G Flat and C
Jazz From Around the World
There are several Savoy titles to come out as well (I'm actually more looking for these on cd, I like the Savoys a hair better).
