I can tell it IS tough for Guy. . .

Lots of social satire and keen insight in things like "Bringing it all Back Home" through "Desire" if outright protest isn't as evident. I agree that his controlled early voice is just devestating. And the writing of things like "It's Alright Ma I'm Only Bleeding" is devestating too for me, just ruthless energy and imaging so dead on. I love the stuff with The Band, and think that Planet Waves is one of my favorite albums, and Blood on the Tracks is a tremendously mature work. I sort of quit getting excited about then, but I'm getting excited again listening to some SACD reissues and some boots.

I find I'm most enjoying the final trios. . . . I'd say "Consecration" if I could slip in a whole box set as a favorite! I'm enjoying those Elektras reissued on Blue Note, "Paris Concerts."

Not that thrilled about most of the others but the Andrew Hills will be great to see, and the Sheila Jordan I've heard good things about! Thanks for sharing.

The Devil's Music cds put out by David Baldwin are awesome---the complete stuff bit by bit in excellent sound . . . four volumes now I believe. Incredible material very well presented. Hope the series goes on and on!

I guess I'm weird. . . I like all of that set, and "It Can Only Happen with You" is probably my favorite part. I hate Xmas music. I really LIKE "Merry Ole Soul," it and the Marcus Roberts' cd "Prayer for Peace" are the only ones I'll listen too. "Merry Ole Soul" is really really good.

I've only ever seen the Japanese cd of some seven years ago or so. . . . It's very nice! I recently bought the "Back Home Again in Indiana" Audiophile cd from George H. Buck (jazzology.com) and like it a lot.

I've never seen anything but the Atlantic and Columbia from Bell. Yeah, through the odd choices of lps given to Peace Corps volunteers in the mid sixties as care packages, I got "Another Dimension" as one of the very first lps I ever had (another was Leo Wright's excellent Blues Shout"and yet another was "Sister Salvation" by Slide Hampton), a gift from a volunteer who I guess didn't dig it when we were in Ethiopia. That version of "My Favorite Things" is KILLER. . . love the way it develops. TAhese are really good albums, but I don't expect to see them soon. . .

I'm more worried about outliving my wife. There's all sorts of issues such as . . . could I remarry. . . if I did, where would I be buried. . . and then there's this odd fear I have of. . .THE HAUNTING! I think.

I really like this one. . .Italian Flute Concertos . . .Rampal. .. Sony. Mellow sound, nice material, very relaxing and uplifiting.
