Yes.

I do have four Sinatra cds . . .sort of. The one at the Sands with Basie. The Francis A. and Eddward K. one. The one with Jobim. And a Tommy Dorsey Clambake one that he sings on a few selections. I would say the Jobim is the best of the lot. I enjoy his singing on the Dorsey better than his Capitol era singing. I hate the one with the Ellington band with outside arrangement. And the one with Basie at the Sands has its moments both ways. Don't spin these too often.

Wow, I didn't even know about THAT book. When I have a chance I may look for that (though my pile of books "to read" right now is so high that it LITERALLY fell over last weekend when I added one to the top!)

PLUS the Ellen Fitton/Malcolm Addey engineering combination should yield wonderful sonics!

Matthew, I don't think you'll be disappointed in the music in the least. I have nearly all this material on other releases. It's wonderful music played by master musicians for the most part. Farlow's technical virtuosity can be astonishing, but it's not on at 11 all the time for showing off, he has real heart and soul in his music. The matereial with Costa on board may be my favorite, but there is plenty of swinging and lyrical jazz there to explore.

I have the original album and I enjoyed it years and years ago and haven't visited it much since. I do enjoy McGlaughlin of this vintage: he was exploring and growing and really playing great things. I sort of lost touch with McGlaughlin later in the seventies and just haven't been interested in his work since. . . . Surman is a great player whose work I've really enjoyed as a sideman but I think this is all I have of him as a leader. . . May have to look this lp up in my archive and spin it soon! Thanks for the reminder!

I've been collecting Tony Scott for a while now. . . as Jim says a very personal journey through a musical life and the music is stunning along the way. I have four Philology releases by Scott as a leader that I truly love. The Billie Holdiay ones are just some of the best music ever. Also have a Brunswick 10" that is a BURNER!

Wow I was actually surprised I got them all correct, though I was not certain of two of my answers and sort of went with my gut!

I love all the Babs Gonzales I have ever heard. . . My favorite is "St. Louis Blues" but he never fails to entertain me. I've compared the Definitive Basie Columbias to the French lp set of the masters on cdr. I prefer the sound from the French lps, occasional vinyl glitches and all. They are more immediate and lively.

I've emptied the jar, but it took some time. . . .
