I'd recommend the Daniels book. I think that some of the leaps were well excecuted, and it gave a view of black musicians in the teens, twenties and thirties covering areas that are not usually covered; I learned a lot and enjoyed the read. It's PRES, so the book was very welcome.

They may be taking a lloooooong time to read on my machine. I cheat and view the properties, copy the url, and then add then launch them. When I then return to the page, there they are.

I agree M, I learned an awful lot learning and because I learned Latin.

There was a Jubilee lp with split leadership "Eddie Costa/Vinnie Burke Trio" ---been out on cd from Fresh Sounds. Wish there were a lot more.

Not lp, but the "Teo Macero Japanese" cd version of the Complete Plugged Nickel cd set, released in Japan several years before the Cuscuna produced American version. . . . Never saw or heard it and wish I had!

I'd have to agree that I would act as Jim has suggested. I'd rather have no discs and bang on rocks and whistle and hum and howl the music out of my head. . . when not silently just playing back what I have in memory.
