  1. Bobby Hutcherson "Mosaic Select" disc 1 (of 3) Blue Note material--this disc has "Cirrus" and most of "inner Glow." Great music, and I think influential in its form and sound. I never grow tired of this man's artistry.
  2. Rodney Kendrick “The Colors of Rhythm” Impulse cd with Curtis Lundy and Cindy Blackman (Santana) Not your grandfather’s piano trio recording.
  3. Jimmy Rowles/Red Mitchell/Donald Bailey “Trio” cd I love Rowles, so much personality in his playing and he delivers unique interpretations of songs.
  4. Playing another favorite, and haven’t heard one of the remix versions for a while. Miles Davis “Bitches Brew” Sony SACD, 2002, remix.
  5. Ike Quebec “Bossa Nova Soul Samba” 24 Bit by RVG lp facsimile cd from Blue Note Japan It’s Ike’s “birthday” today so a good reason to play this classic. Gives me a Kenny Burrell fix as well.
  6. Sun Ra “Egypt 1971” disc 1 of 4 I skip the interview segments. Not in the mood for Sonny’s BS this time around.
  7. Birthday man
  8. Mario Adnet “Um Olhar Sobre Villa-Lobos” Adventure Music cd Graceful and pastoral sound. Great way to start a cool summer morning.
  9. I dread the changes too. . .but am happy once they're done and the anxiety and frustration is through!
  10. New 17" MacBook Pro up and running. My wife will get the 14" when repaired. Best I’ve ever had. . . wish I hadn’t had to spend the money. Now playing Virginia Rodriguez “Sol Negro”
  11. This is the only one I have of his as a leader, I also have him on drummer Rudy Royston's "303" album and can recommend that.
  12. Jon Irabagon “Behind The Sky–featuring Tom Harrell”
  13. Don’t often do this but I’m playing this one again. For a Jobim nut this is wonderful. The sound is very vivid and real as well. “Eric LeLann & Jean Marie Ecay Play Jobim” Plus Loin cd Guitar and trumpet duo interpretations of the master’s music.
  14. “Eric LeLann & Jean Marie Ecay Play Jobim” Plus Loin cd Guitar and trumpet duo interpretations of the master’s music.
  15. Gregory Tardy “Serendipity” Impulse cd Great band! Haven’t played this in too long. Bass – Reginald Veal Drums – Eric Harland Piano – Mulgrew Miller Tenor Saxophone – Gregory Tardy Trumpet – Russell Gunn, Tom Harrell
  16. Starting the day off with Jobim interpretations. Dirindi feat Marzieh Reyhani "Cantar Do Jobim" Jazz N Pulz cd
  17. Pat Thomas “Desafinado” Blue Moon cd
  18. Listening now to two newly arrived Teagarden LPs from a four LP lot of Jackson I got very cheaply from eBay. First up was a mono LP of “Think Well of Me”–I’ve had the stereo on LP and cd, but never heard the mono and it’s a great mix, and sounded great. Now I’m listening to “Mis’ry and the Blues” one of my favorites–I’ve never had it on LP only on cd, and it’s a great sound stereo copy. Now I need to decide of I want to splurge on a (more expensive) mono copy. I’ll keep an eye out I’m sure I’ll find one eventually I can’t resist. I’m a Teagarden fanatic, more so as time passes.
  19. I have all I have ever encountered by him, which is nearly all written or recorded. I once pleaded with Michael Cuscuna to collect all this into a Mosaic set. His one line response: "Lon, you are out of your mind!"
  20. Right now, another unsung vocalist that I really enjoy Babs Gonzales. He was a complete goof. But he could also deliver straight and emotionally as he does often enough on this LP. A reissue of an earlier LP which is very hard to find: Babs Gonzales “Babs” Chiaroscuro LP Some of my favorite musicians behind him here! Drums – Roy Haynes Leader, Vocals – Babs Gonzales Piano – Horace Parlan Acoustic Bass – Buddy Catlett Tenor Saxophone – Charlie Rouse, Johnny Griffin Trombone – Melba Liston Trumpet – Clark Terry Violin – Ray Nance 600×618 123 KB Original 1968 LP
  21. I listened to the Tomlinson from last night again and then Aline Muniz “Onde Tudo Faz Sentido” A Brazilian singer-songwriter with a lovely voice.
  22. Yes, it's been on a gray market cd, and on Miles Davis Bootleg Series Vol. 4.
  23. Sahib Shibab “Companionship” Rearward Schema cd
  24. Newport '55--which led to Miles signing with Columbia.
  25. The Sahib Shihab Quintet “Seeds” Rearward Schema cd
