  1. Newport '55--which led to Miles signing with Columbia.
  2. The Sahib Shihab Quintet “Seeds” Rearward Schema cd
  3. Duke Ellington Orchestra “Hot Summer Nights” Red Baron cd Just one night in the life of the Orchestra, and they were unusually (it seems to me) tight that night.
  4. I feel very much the same way Joe, though the next two had some great moments. And I'll add the complete Basement Tapes and Planet Waves. Planet Waves still blows me away, best of Bob and The Band together.
  5. Another beautiful sounding Adventure Music cd from Brazilian trombonist Vittor Santos! Vittor Santos “Renewed Impressions”
  6. Saw this cd on the shelves and had to spin it–this is such a sunny and warm and fun cd. I love Paula’s voice . . . and Joao shares her bright musical spirit. “Paula Morelenbaum & Joao Donato” 600×527 84.8 KB 854×602 98.1 KB
  7. I'd recommend these eye protection for anyone riding, I have both tinted and clear pairs (for night riding). Your eyes will not water and they rarely rarely "fog up" . . . . https://www.wileyx.com/sunglasses/collection/climate-control They're not cheap but they work. Transformed my riding eye comfort.
  8. “Sugar Hill: The Music Of Duke Ellington And Billy Strayhorn” Chesky SACD Javon Jackson, David Hazeltine, Tony Reedus, Paul Gill
  9. “The Jackie Paris Sound” Atlantic/Collector’s Choice cd This century I discovered the joy of Jackie Paris recordings and this is a good one. Bass – Joe Benjamin, Wendell Marshall Drums – Bill Clark, Ed Shaughnessy Guitar – Barry Galbraith Piano – John James Tenor Saxophone – Ed Wasserman
  10. Stefon Harris "Black Action Figure" Blue Note cd Starting the day off with a recording that has it all. . . horns, quartet, swing, funk, introspective rumination.
  11. I got into Chick via Filles de Kilimanjaro and MIles Davis at Fillmore. I preferred his fusion work to Herbie's but I like Herbie's as well. Ponty does very little for me, never has.
  12. In my case I had rain gear and rode in rain a lot. I was also very easily able to take one of three different bus routes to work; three bus stops were just one to five minutes from my house. The very best grocery store in town was a five minute walk from our house, and I had sadddle-bags on my motorcycle to transport items as well. My then wife (now late first wife) did not drive. I often used noise protection--never any "music" headphones--when riding. I both rode with and without full and open helmets. Fogging wasn't much of an issue, I usually had the visor off or propped up.
  13. I love my 2008 Harley Fat Bob. . . but I don't ride it often any longer because it wants to get on the highway and run for about 10 or 12 hours for a few days. . . and I just can't do that any longer. And my wife doesn't want to ride with me, she doesn't find it comfortable. So. . .I don't know. . . if I can swing it one of these days I may get a smaller bike. I've been a motorcycle rider since '78 and from '80 to '90 it was my only vehicle in Austin, and then again from 2008 to 2016 a motorcycle was my only vehicle. My '74 BMW R90/6 was probably my favorite, but I do love my Fat Bob.
  14. Stan Getz “At Large–Recorded in Copehnagen” Verve 2 cd set, disc 1 Stan sounding so warm and swinging just so.
  15. Chick Corea “Return to Forever” ECM LP My original LP of this bought when it was a fresh recording. LOVE THIS MUSIC SO MUCH. The LP is a little beat, but it’s like a time portable for me.
  16. Ivan “Boogaloo” Joe Jones “Sweetback” Love 'n Haight cd Man, this guy played! Fluid and funky.
  17. Monday Michiru “Don’t Disturb the Groove” Monday always lifts my mood, and I’m enjoying the little boost right now.
  18. Haven’t pulled this one from the stacks for a while. Michele Rosewoman Trio “Occasion To Rise” Evidence cd with Rufus Reid and Ralph Peterson 600×600 134 KB
  19. Just as all music was once new, someone made that up.
  20. He's referred to that way in his most recent appearance, as "Commander" in "Stars on Mars."
  21. Dying at/while working. A noble tradition. My great great great great great grandfather, David Tannenberg, probably the first great American organ builder, was killed late in life working on an organ. I think (knowing the workaholic nature of his descendants) he was more than okay with that.
  22. Right. I sort of mentioned you in my post of listening to disc 1 earlier today. Great work!
  23. Captain Jason "You're Fired" Tape Deck Records Bill "Shaddy Daddy" Shatner "All the Interplanetary Hits" Federation Records
