  1. "The Complete Recordings of T-Bone Walker 1940-1954" Mosaic Records, cd II I forgot how fantastic the remastering is on this set--T-Bone's guitar sounds like it is coming from an amp in my room. (There is a great guitar amp in my room, which helps the illusion.)
  2. "The Complete Master Jazz Piano Series" Mosaic Records box set, disc IV Earl Hines! Amazing solo piano.
  3. Miles Davis "Saturday Night In Person at the Blackhawk" Columbia cd, from the Complete Columbia Albums box set, disc 2
  4. Milt Jackson "Brother Jim" Pablo cd Bass – Bob Cranshaw Drums – Mickey Roker Guitar – Joe Pass (tracks: A4) Piano – Cedar Walton Producer – Norman Granz Soprano Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone – Harold Vick, Jimmy Heath Vibraphone – Milt Jackson Recorded in New York City 1985 Looking out at the remaining autumn leaves this morning. . . this session has just the right vibe for the morning after Halloween. (Had about fifty trick or treaters last night, a record since I've lived here.)
  5. Flora Purim "Nothing will be as it was. . . Tomorrow" Warner Bros
  6. Duke Ellington "Such Sweet Thunder" CBS France cd This one has the right take for the Clark Terry phrase. No fools these particular engineers be. Sound is pretty good.
  7. The Complete June Christy & Peggy Lee Capitol Transcription Sessions, Mosaic Records, disc 1 This first disc is all June Christy with a great small group behind her. Such sweet sound. This set is a real blessing--where else can you get so much great Dave Barbour guitar?
  8. Kurt Elling "Passion World" Concord Records cd This one has taken time to grow on me, but it has. Nice for a rainy fall day like this one. Bass – Clark Sommers Drums, Voice – Kendrick Scott Guitar – John McLean Keyboards – Gary Versace Percussion, Voice – Francisco Torres Piano [Guest] – Frank Chastenier Producer – Kurt Elling Saxophone – Carolina Strassmayer, Tommy Smith Trumpet – Arturo Sandoval, Till Brönner Vocals – Kurt Elling Vocals [Guest] – Sara Gazarek
  9. This is a good one! Steve Turre "Woody's Delight"
  10. Steve Turre "Woody's Delight"
  11. "Abercrombie Quartet" ECM cd I'm reminded of Garcia again. Especially Garcia of the end of the 'seventies, this time frame. I like the way Mraz is recorded here and on ECM--he is not so well served on other labels later.
  12. "The Complete Vee Jay Lee Morgan-Wayne Shorter Studio Sessions" Mosaic Records box set, disc V
  13. Carmen McRae "Singles & Albums Collection 146-1958" disc 1 I picked this up as it has Stardust and Decca singles material I don't have elsewhere. I love Carmen more and more as time goes by. What a controlled voice!
  14. Glad that was corrected!
  15. October 11, 1983, both discs from Grateful Dead "In and Out of the Garden: Madison Square Garden ’81, ’82, ’83" box set. This is a show I will probably not revisit often. The show just seems a little ragged and the sound is not great. I did like "Drums" and "Space" more than on other shows, and I usually don't like those! Followed by "The Complete Recordings of T-Bone Walker 1940-1954" Mosaic Records disc 1. I'm revisiting this set from one of the pioneering electric guitarists. I particularly his playing and singing. I have looked and looked and can't locate the box and booklet. Maybe they're misfiled in my storage unit somewhere. Sigh. I sure would love to re-read the booklet and check the mastering info.
  16. On a jazz listening thread I started on another forum years ago a poster has said he got the Ellington and one disc was duplicating another (though labeled correctly). He asked for a replacement set . . . same problem. I hope it's an isolated issue as that is a fantastic box set.
  17. It was quite a nice documentary. I will watch it again one day.
  18. My wife asked me if this was Jerry Garcia playing. I understand why. John Abercrombie "Arcade" ECM cd
  19. That IS the Band.
  20. Coincidence is my guess.
  21. "The Complete Columbia J.J. Johnson Small Group Sessions" Mosaic Records box set, disc I I worked backwards from disc V to disc I this time through this set and that was an interesting way to listen. Great music, great musicians.
  22. Kenny Burrell "Soulero" Chess/GRP cd This great disc contains two albums, "The Tender Gender" and "Ode to 52nd Street." Kenny's playing is great. . . his sound is just as great.
  23. Bob Dylan "Not Dark Yet" 4 track cd. The album cut of "Not Dark Yet" and three live performances. I love Dylan of this vintage.
