I'm relieved Dan, glad it was no worse.

Discogs.com doesn't list the version you have, though it does list five total cd versions starting in 1994 and last issued in 2018. The one that Chuck references is one of two in the SHM-CD format. Allmusic.com shows your issue was released in 2003. It is not unusual for Japan to reissue the same title multiple times spaced by a few years. It's a part of the way their reissue program (designed almost entirely for the Japanese market alone) works. Sometimes there is a new master, sometimes previous mastering is used in a different format (SHM-CD, Blu-Spec CD, Blu-Spec CD2, HQCD, UHQCD, etc.) or in a budget reissue version.

It's exactly what Chuck said it is. https://www.discogs.com/release/15551509-Eddie-Costa-The-House-Of-Blue-Lights

John Coltrane "Blue Train" Universal Japan SHM-SACD 2022 Second time through this stereo release. Sounds a bit bright but otherwise great.

Yes I mean an upright. My Mom's Dad called his a stand up, he had a sort of cleverly funny name for many things that was not usual. A slip up on my part in the post.

Horace Tapscott Quintet "The Quintet" Mr. Bongo cd A previously unreleased session recorded for Flying Dutchman that would have followed "The Giant Has Awakened." Too bad they only provided a stand up piano

Thanks for sharing. Right now Re-visiting Hubert Laws "Crying Song" CTI/Beat Goes On cd. This is a fascinating release. Originally arranged and scored for a Stanley Turrentine date, Hubert Laws was called in as a replacement. And with large stringed and brass orchestration and multi-tracked flute pieces that seem a bit psychedelic . . . it's a treat to listen to. And . . . those song choices. Wild!

Starting the morning off with a genius live. Roland Kirk "Live at Ronnie Scott's 1963" Sound is just acceptable. Playing is excellent. Stan Tracey is at the piano, Malcolm Cecil on bass and Ronnie Stephenson on drums.

This has just been released: Seems to be on Tidal and Spotify and a cd is available as well. Skip Walker: Tina's Contemplation – A Reflection On The Genius Of Tina Brooks https://skipwalker.bandcamp.com/album/tinas-contemplation-a-reflection-on-the-genius-of-tina-brooks

More Leo Wright, this time "Suddenly the Blues" Atlantic Records Japan cd Leo with Kenny Burrell, Ron Carter and Rudy Collins. Great session!

Hope you get power back for the well--two winters ago we spent 13 days without power and thus no heat or water and we only have one animal. Glad you are all safe!

Glad you are safe.

One of the very first LPs I ever owned--a gift from one of the Peace Corps volunteers my Dad directed in Swaziland. The volunteers were given a box of LPs by Atlantic Records, and this volunteer didn't like jazz so he gave me the three jazz LPs he got. Leo Wright "Blues Shout" Atlantic Records (mono).

"Live at the East" is also one of my favorites. Miles' disses usually had something extra-musical to them imo. Jealousy of capturing a hip market without plugging in perhaps in this case.

Virginia Mayhew Quartet featuring special guest Wycliffe Gordon "Mary Lou Williams -- the Next 100 Years" This is a very cool cd.

Great to know, thanks for the report.

Walter Smith III & Matthew Stevens "In Common 3"

Hoping the best for a safe passage for you and Dan.

It is pretty new to me, so I think someone else may have led you to it.

Nucleus "Live at the BBC" disc 2 (of 13!)

I've heard a few before that didn't really floor me. Wilkins led me to this one and he's possibly the highlight, though the trombone playing is quite good. Right now "I want the music to be hot like my love for you my darling" Svensk Jazzhistoria Vol. 5 – Swedish Jazz 1943–47 – Jazzen Anfaller disc 1 This series of releases presenting the history of jazz in Sweden are excellent--I have eleven volumes, all I think Caprice Records have released so far.

Three listens this morning to chronicle. Did a tube swap in my ZROCK2 that is giving me interesting results, and my little furry companion Fiona sleeping on my chest caused me to have a fifteen minute nap in the middle. . . which is probably a good thing. First Miles Davis "Filles De Kilimanjaro" Mobile Fidelity Lab SACD This is one of my favorite recordings ever and this is my favorite digital version. Then: Vandever "Regrowth" New Amsterdam cd Kalia Vandever: compositions and trombone Immanuel Wilkins: alto saxophone Lee Meadvin: guitar Paul Cornish: piano Nick Dunston: bass Connor Parks: drums Interesting music. Kalia Vandever's compositions are interesting as is her playing and there's Immanuel Wilkins here. . . a sign of quality. Now: Yusef Lateef "Eastern Sounds" OJC RVG Edition cd Great music. There are numerous criticisms of Blue Note's RVG series, some of which I can agree to on some issues, but the Prestige series is overall very good sounding.

It's not something I worry about. I love the sylvan beauty of my surroundings. But since it seems to bug you I'll delete it.
