  1. Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis "Cast of Cats"

  13. Wow, that sure was a Mac ATTACK. I'm awake now. Re-visting this one. David Axelrod "Earth Rot" Stateside cd of Capitol LP
  14. Mac Gollehon "Straight Ahead"
  15. I did that rather quickly as well though I didn't have a car at the time (spent over 20 years in Texas with just a motorcycle) but needed to play them at work.
  16. Had to squeeze this one into today's listening. "Matita Perê" Antônio Carlos Jobim, Polygram Brazil cd. I'm not always that big a fan of Ogerman's work with Jobim but there's magic in these orchestrations, and Jobim worked seriously here to create a splendid album. I like his multi-tracked vocals and his singing overall is so heart-felt. One of my favorite albums. Also released with this cover by Verve:
  17. After a lunch break I had to listen to disc 1 of this building block of my musical world. . . Miles Davis "Bitches Brew" Mobile Fidelity SACD And then it was on to this disc which is a fine one. Duduka is such a fantastic drummer--and the berimbau feature here is so flippin' well recorded. And there's Maucha Adnet on hand as well. A killer album of Brazilian jazz. Duduka Da Fonseca "Samba Jazz Fantasia" Now onto this one . . .I haven't played this one often enough. I'm going to fix that. David Sanchez "Sketches of Dreams" Columbia cd Bass – John Benitez, Larry Grenadier Claves, Drums – Leon Parker Congas, Percussion, Maracas – Jerry Gonzalez Drums – Adam Cruz Piano – Danilo Perez, Dave Kikoski Shekere, Congas, Percussion, Bajo Quinto – Milton Cardona Tenor Saxophone, Soprano Saxophone – David Sanchez Trumpet – Roy Hargrove

  19. Tom Jobim "Chopin Etudes" Liner notes by Clare Fischer
  20. Yesterday was the birthday of one of my favorite composers and musicians, Antonio Carlos Jobim. I'll celebrate today as I missed yesterday as an opportunity. SFJazz Collective "Compositions of Antonio Carlos Jobim & Original Compositions" disc 1, the really well done arrangements of Jobim's works, which are freed from Bossa nova tropes and cliches.
  21. Archie Shepp "Steam" Enja/Solid Records Japan cd Bass – Cameron Brown Drums – Beaver Harris Tenor Saxophone, Piano – Archie Shepp Steam is what you need while watching the snow fall. Brown and Harris make a great team for Shepp here. March 14, 1976, East-West Festival, Nuremberg, Germany
