  2. Back to this one before I file it away. A favorite. Keith Jarrett/Gary Peacock/Jack DeJohnette “Tokyo '96” ECM cd
  3. Starting off the day with some killer guitar quartet music. Tal Farlow “The Complete Verve Tal Farlow Sessions” Mosaic Records cd box set, disc 6
  4. Joe, I totally agree with your assessment. His previous books are also excellent in both scholarship and writing. And then there's that rare thing. . . you feel good reading them.
  5. Giacomo Gates “Centerpiece” 250×250 6.16 KB
  6. “John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman” SHM-SACD Impulse Japan
  7. René Thomas with Bud Powell, Johnny Griffin, and Gilbert 'Bibi' Rovère at the Blue Note in Paris, France, 1959 or early 1960s. Photo by Jean-Pierre Leloir
  8. Good luck. I tried ordering from ESP Disk a few times in the last two years with no success (i. e. never got the cds).
  9. Lee Morgan “Caramba!” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD I really like this date, in part because the cover photo always reminds me of someone I loved so much, my late first wife.
  10. Lee Morgan “Infinity” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD
  11. I have the Nat Pierce material and the Urbie Green. I'd say these are neither fish nor fowl, neither really a "small group" nor piano-centric. So I can see why they were not included.
  12. “Chet Baker Sings and Plays” Pacific Jazz/Blue Note 85th Anniversary UHQCD
  13. A warm morning. Ye olde dachshund Fiona wouldn’t let me go back to sleep, at least not yet. . . so I started the listening with Dave Holland Big Band “What Goes Around” ECM cd 450×450 33.1 KB I really enjoy this ensemble, the arrangements and performances. And the sound is very good.
  14. Trying out a new rectifier in the SEWE300B and it’s sounding pretty good! Played Antonio Carlos Jobim “Stone Flower” (the Legacy cd) 500×500 26.3 KB Followed by Dave Holland Octet “Pathways” ECM cd 500×438 43.4 KB
  15. I have--not a major difference imo.
  16. Jazz At Lincoln Center “The Fire Of The Fundamentals” Columbia cd
  17. I didn't realize the cover didn't show up. Here 'tis.
  18. Arturo O’Farrill “Blood Lines” Milestone cd A great debut!
  19. Miles Davis “Miles Smiles” Sony Blu-Spec CD2 Enjoying the warm morning while it lasts. Some of the sloping sheet of ice that is my driveway has melted, that’ great I think. Starting off with this classic in great sound. I almost listened to the Bootleg Series volume that features these tape reels, but decided to just hear the familiar glory of the released material only. 300×296 7.52 KB
  20. This music is worth exploring, and it should not be hard to find almost all of it on Vanguard cds that shouldn't cost too much I bet. (I have almost all of it on cds, with the exception of the Trio with Quinichette which I have on a Vogue 2 LP set). I love the Powell material.
  21. Revisiting this cd. Wow. I shouldn't have let it sit un-listened to for so long since I last spun it. Beautiful music arranged (mostly written by as well) Mario Adnet, and the sound quality is excellent. The final track, "Caravan" is excellent, showing its devotion to the original, and also at the close bringing in what appears to me to be Charles Mingus Shaw-Hafi-Knepper era elements. Love it! This "Caravan" is the best track I've heard all week. (The week is young!) 22. Herbie Hancock “Maiden Voyage” Blue Note Japan Platinum SHM-CD This disc also sounds incredible this morning. Maiden Voyage = 処女航海, Primary, 1 of 3600×600 115 KB
  23. I have had all these sessions on disc for years. . . great stuff. . I've pre-ordered based on the amazing sonic quality of the previous Mosaic set.
  24. The Verve material is great. . . has not been hard to find separately. The UK label Not Now Music released a 3 cd set with all the released Verve material, if there wer some additional material a Moaic might contain 4 discs.
  25. Raul De Souza “Jazzmim” Bisocoto da Fina cd 400×400 51.9 KB Followed by Mario Adnet “Saudade Maravilhosa” Selo cd 386×354 39 KB
