Yes, me too.

I used to be pretty blase about this album. Team ups in general don’t usually impress me much, and early on in my exploration of Jobim and first exposure to Regina. . .I just was not impressed. That has changed over time. I recently found an affordable copy of this sealed Japanese cd and am revisiting the session. Really enjoying it tonight! The system is really making this edition shine.

Jazz is Dead 3, Marcos Valle

Well, my new dog makes it impossible to use my laptop while he and I share the listening chair, so I didn’t get to chronicle my morning listening until now. It’s nice and cool this morning, and though most leaves have not turned their color to their autumn coat, leaves and acorns have fallen, making for a nice walk Memphis and I shared. I’m back now, he’s in the kitchen with Lucinda, and the system is warmed up and sounding fantastic! I started off with Dave Young Quintet “Mostly Mingus.” This is a live recording that very well captures the spirit and drive of a Mingus unit while also being up to date in its structure and soloing. 500×500 65.3 KB And now I’m playing Yazz Ahmed’s latest, “A Paradise in the Hold”–a great recording of her distinctive sounding musical collage. This keeps unveiling little delicate nuggets of music.

IMO excellent.

Tom Jobim “Matita Pere” Philips cd (Brazil) A beautiful album, over time one of my very favorites of Jobim’s. Released in the US as “Jobim”

Cornelia Nilson “Where do You Go” Cornelia Wilson “Where do You Go” Really enjoying this cd from the lovely Swedish drummer.

I looked it up on google. Here is the response: The "Little Bird" moniker is a direct reference to the meaning of the name Ornette, which translates to "Little Eagle" or "Little Bird" in Old English This Todd Bishop release is GREAT.

Todd Bishop Group “Little Played Little Bird–The Music of Ornette Coleman” I really like this one, but no surprise as I have liked another Todd Bishop disc a lot. And Weber Iago is on piano here, always a good thing.

I can’t listen and post well now that Memphis is here in the home. He insists on sharing my listening seat with me when I can listen, and there is really not enough room in this chair for us both to sit comfortably, and it’s impossible to incorporate a laptop which he sees only as an impediment to attention he deserves. Not unexpected, but sad news.

The cover and a few "themes" perhaps may but overall it's a tribute to Erykah Badu's music (or two of her albums).

“Creative Music Studio–Woodstock Festival Vol. 1” Douglas Records cd This has to be great with Lee Konitz, Chick Corea, Miroslav Vitous, and Jack DeJohnette. And it IS. A very dynamic recording as well. Recorded at Woodstock, NY: Sept 19, 1981.

Grateful Dead “Blues For Allah” 50th Anniversary 3 cd set, disc 1 (the OG album). This sounds exceptional. The Plangent Process is a great thing and this transfer and mastering is great!

I’m re-listening to this Burrell SHM-SACD as I haven’t been able to give it or any music my real deep attention since our new dog entered our home. I am followed like a shadow, I have to be constantly interacting with him, he’s obsessed with me. He won’t fit with me in my listening chair (he’s more than twice the size of Fiona the dachshund) and as a result I haven’t spent much time at all listening. He’s sleeping next to Lucinda now so I am upstairs and trying to get in a little listening. I warmed up the system and this SHM-SACD sounds better than it did before. A little more like a Kevin Gray mastered release rather than the previous Blue Note SHM-SACD (which sounded really nice imo). Kenny Burrell “Midnight Blue” Tower Records exclusive SHM-SACD

Great to hear. I can understand some of the bashing of the family releases for various reasons, but this one was a winner.

John Coltrane “Crescent” Impulse reissue LP Never tire of this music. Probably my most played Coltrane release.

Herbie Hancock “Empyrean Isles” Blue Note Japan SHM-SACD Great sounding edition of this classic Blue Note session. Tony Willams always draws my attention here.

Getting ready for the 50th Anniversary edition that will be released Friday by listening to this SACD. Grateful Dead “Blues for Allah” Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab SACD

Mario Adnet “Saudade Maravilhosa” Selo cd Bright and silky textures of Adnet’s guitar and arrangements in stellar sound.

Tania Maria & Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen “Tania Maria In Copenhagen 1978/79” Stunt 2 cd set, disc 2, “Tania Maria Live” 1978 I’ve been ignoring Ms. Maria too long, once again. Even this early on her music is fully formed, fully her own. With Mark Berteraux on bass and Andre Ceccarelli on drums.
