  1. (Antonio Carlos Jobim) Nova Banda “Família Jobim” This is beautiful music. I appreciate these final Jobim albums more and more. 500×500 65.1 KB This is a differently sequenced version than: 300×300 12 KB
  2. Yes, I'd kvetch too if it made some sort of difference. I had a little hurdle with them years ago and haven't gone back to the site except once a year or so.
  3. Cosey was great . . . but I was always fascinated by the great supportive playing by Reggie Lucas. Wow!
  4. Grateful Dead “Dave’s Picks Vol. 46: Hollywood Palladium, Los Angeles, CA 9/9/72” disc 2 1972, one fine year for the Dead.
  5. 1m Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers “Meet You At the Jazz Corner of the World Vol. 2” 24 bit by RVG Blue Note Japan cd Just compared it to the US version. Sounds better.

  10. Santana “Borboletta” Columbia LP A great album and the OG LP sounds great. A gorgeous cover to see and hold in your hands as well.
  11. This was mislaid for a while and I found it under my listening chair! A funky remake of a classic Chico Barque album with amazing trombone! By the daughter of Joyce and Nelson Angelo, quite a family background. Clara Moreno Samba Esquema Novo “De Novo” 300×300 15.5 KB
  12. Brother Jack McDuff “Moon Rappin’” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD A fun album.
  13. Bob Dylan “The Bootleg Series Vol. 17: Fragments – Time Out of Mind Sessions (1996–1997)” This is a fascinating box set. I’m listening to the remix of “Time Out of Mind” in this set at the moment. This opinion runs contrary to most that I read but I prefer the original mix. . . though I can like this one as an alternate window into the music. The original has a magic that drew me in and revived interest in Dylan’s music for me though, it will always live in my heart as a masterwork.
  14. Orrin Evans “The Magic of Now” Smoke Sessions cd. Orrin with Immanuel Wilkins. A great listen.
  15. 500×500 21.4 KB Ike Quebec “Easy Living” Blue Note Japan cd Ike was very important to the Blue Note label. Had he lived longer we would have had more interesting work from him as a leader, sideman and A&R man. . . but then we would have not had the same Duke Pearson albums we did or the same albums he arranged and co-produced. He had such a great sound. Here he has great players with him. Ike Quebec - tenor saxophone Bennie Green - trombone (tracks 1–5) Stanley Turrentine - tenor saxophone (tracks 1–5) Sonny Clark - piano Milt Hinton - bass Art Blakey - drums
  16. This one again–so good! Eddie Condon and his All Stars “Jammin’ at Condon’s” Columbia LP
  17. Micah Thomas “Mountains” Artwork Records cd This recent release sounds great. . . and the great Immanuel Wilkins makes it for me. 185×185 12.3 KB

  19. T.S. Monk “Take One” Blue Note cd
  20. Johnny Summers Baker’s Dozen “Celebrating Chet Baker” Cellar Door cd Nice!

Dexter is often addictive to me. . . can’t listen to just one. . . He had such a distinct musical personality. The Complete Prestige Recordings of Dexter Gordon
  22. I know, you mentioned that before. Looks like it was sweaty!
  23. “The Chase” Dexter Gordon/Gene Ammons 400×396 39.2 KB From this box set
  24. Monday Michiru “Soulception” Adventure Music cd 640×640 70 KB This is one of Monday’s best. 293×226 5.45 KB
  25. Mark Turner “In this World” Warner Bros cd I’m re-visiting a fantastic disc I pulled from the less-traveled shelves and don’t want to put back. It is imo a superbly engineered disc (recorded and mixed by James Farber) and just a phenomenally performed group of recordings. Mark Turner is exhibiting and being captured at his inventive and technical best–he shows off a bit his speed and mastery of articulation while also presenting his constant lyricism. Each instrument is taking part in telling stories here, and they are mixed with a balance that is cohesive and seems to draw you into the room with the men. I love listening to this one.
