It sort of stands alone in the discography in some ways, so I can see that. I always hated that it seemed (and was) sped up. This box set corrects that and shows the development of the tunes, it's fascinating. The single disc is worth picking up.

There’s a promise of near freezing weather today–hope it materializes. It’s thirteen right now. Started off this morning with “Sweet Tooth” by Mali Obomsawin, a thoroughly modern loudish cd that is a good test for my newest upgade to the system, and intriguing music. And now I’m spinning another disc that will help with assessment of the changes, Mark Turner “In this World.” 500×500 58.2 KB No, we're just having the fiercest weather here in about a decade, and my wife and I are trying to conserve energy and it is cooler here in the house, and my dog is deaf and blind and finding ways to get her out and about in the morning is challenging. Just on my mind and I decide to converse about it bit. On another forum other American and Canadian posters join in as they are experiencing unusually cold weather. Doesn't influence what I choose to play, just what I tend to say.

"Estate" . . . Lynne Arriale Trio "Live at the Montreux Jazz Festiva" . . . not necessarily because of this performance, but because it has reminded how wonderful this composition is.

I'm so happy for those cds that came out last decade and this decade from the LLC--I have rebought many because the sound is so improved, and I limit the "flow" (the spice must flow as my best friend tells me!) by just buying those releases up to the late 'seventies and disregarding the rest--the criteria I have developed as I find I am very very uninterested and connected to Ra material after that period.

We're all different but I've always enjoyed this material, and it sounds probably best of all here than on earlier issues I have. It's NOT the Basie band with Rushing, it's Rushing, singing the blues, not intended (I think) to be a jazz album but Jimmy singing the blues, and the band is behind that notion, solidly.

It's good. It's probably not essential if you have other 1986 Chet recordings, but I really have come to love late Chet and this and Vol. 2 I am glad to add.

Following up with another one in from cdjapan. Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers “Meet You At The Jazz Corner Of The World Vol.1” Blue Note Japan 24 bit by RVG SHM-CD 2023 The distortion on the master tape is a bit annoying. I have LP burns of the mono volumes that sound better (from the days when I was trading music cdrs with drummer Danny D’Imperio).

Woke up to -11 degrees. I have to do a bit of running around today. . . going to be careful! Fiona the dachshund has decided she is NOT going out. Listening to a cd that arrived yesterday from cdjapan, Chet Baker “Live in Japan 1986 Sendai VOL. 1” Timeless Records/Solid Records Japan cd Sound is good, not great–sounds best to me with Phase “Reversed” on my DAC. 500×500 22 KB

IMO it's best to leave the originals alone. Just my take in this world of "what is real" I'd like to see what's real be really real.
