  3. Louis Armstrong "Satchmo Sings" Universal Japan SHM-CD
  4. Yeah, I hear a LOT of Bud Powell. Not a bad thing.
  5. Check it out. If you like these two you'll like it, I think.
  6. Found a copy of this I could afford. I'm a Monday collector. Some remixes are a lot of fun.
  7. I listened to the Neto again this morning, and then moved on to this SHM-CD that arrived in the mail Saturday. Louis Armstrong "Louis and the Angels" Universal Japan SHM-CD. Yes, there's some high fructose corn syrup here, and a whole lot of real sugar.
  8. True for the earlier cd, but this has been reissued this year in Japan and is available at a budget price with seven alternates.
  9. Jovino Santos Neto "Adventure Music Piano Series Vol. 4" . . . an excellent piano solo dates that starts out with a wonderful version of the Beatles' "Blackbird" touched with a bit of forro.
  10. Seven alternate takes (6 of the 7 compositions, one with two alternates) were released on the most recent Japanese cd from Solid Records.
  11. Another great release on Adventure Music. Benjamim Taubkin — "Al Qantara/A Ponte/The Bridge – Brazil & Morrocco." A set of music that touches on Brazilian and Morroccan forms and styles. Sounds wonderful, and I really like the music.
  12. Sonny Clark news: http://wbgo.org/post/sonny-clark-steps-out-shadows-revelatory-new-reissue-1960#stream/0
  13. Cecile McLorin Salvant "Dreams and Daggers" disc 2 I've had this in the car for a while. Salvant is a great singer. . . these discs she's all over the place between territory that Sarah or Blossom or Betty Carter traveled. . . I don't quite hear "her," just "her" yet. . . but in time I know she'll be there.
  14. I don't know what genius means in jazz. This century I don't use that word with frequency at all. I'd say Pops, definitely. And Pres. And Bird. And perhaps, most probably Duke.
  15. Indeed it does Pim. I don't have any idea what mastering is used on the dozen or so I have bought but they sound wonderful.
  16. Akbar DePriest "Inclusion--featuring Javon Jackson"
  17. I'm with Jim too. That's a good release.
  18. I held off long enough. . . I bought this Wes cd from Resonance. Wes Montgomery "Smokin' in Seattle--Live at the Penthouse" on Resonance Records. Was surprised at how good the sound is.
  19. The Centenniary Edition of the record that Thelonious Monk recorded in Paris in '54. This also has live concert tracks added that I have never heard before. . . very cool.
  20. Javon Jackson "When the Time is Right" Blue Note. Produced by Betty Carter.
  21. "Late Date: A Tribute to Lars Gullin" Bernt Rosengren, Mirrors Records (Sweden) Lovely! Any Gullin fan will enjoy.
  22. Toninho Horta & Nicola Stilos "Duets" Adventure Music Records. Beautiful flute and classical guitar duets (with Horta vocals as well).
  23. Tom Lellis and the Metropole Orchestra "Sky Lark" Adventure Music.
  24. If there were a "Like" function I'd like this post lipi.
