Jeri Southern, "Southern Breeze," Roulette Records.
Jeri had a special way with a song. A sweet laid back musical persona that really communicated. I like this one a lot.
I'll follow it up with "Jeri Southern Meets Johnny Smith" on Roulette Records.
I have a good chunk of his recordings, the Blue Note, a few Impulse, the Mosaic Select et al. I met him after a great show in a club in Austin about 13 years ago. . .was a great person to meet, quiet, humble, and yet exuding a palpable intensity.
My sentiments too. I can't talk further about what this brings up in my mind yet again because of the ban on politics, but I wish the best for all the surviving wounded and their families, and the families of all who have lost their lives.
The way I think of this is: Miles was a strong leader and he knew what he wanted very clearly and he got what he wanted. . . so the way the trio was playing was what he wanted. The way the tenors were playing . . . at some point became what he didn't want, or possibly so.
