  1. I have to confess, I don't find Jarrett's "groaning" annoying. I just listen to the keyboard sound.
  2. Thanks. I think I can house my music collection. My collection of instruments. . . maybe, hopefully. I was born in Ashtabula Ohio Cool! I was born in Canton, my parents were born and raised in Louisville. My father was the minister of the "church on the town square" in Burton, Ohio for 28 years. Actually I misspoke, I'm going to be just across the border from Bay Village, in Westlake, Ohio.
  3. Well, it WAS released in '77 and of its time so I'm not surprised it sounds like 'seventies jazz. If you decide you don't want to keep it let me know I may buy if from you.
  4. late 'thirties Ellington small group and Orchestra.
  5. Everything is so relative because I hear far more than "laughingly negligible" differences between cds and lps in both my systems. What I seem to have grown to realize is that there are differences in the formats and great sound is possible from all of them with effort. And listeners/music fans have differing interests in seeking the best sound possible. What is "good enough" for one is possibly way too involved for another and hardly sufficient to another. (And it's quite possible that we all have different hearing and ways of interpreting what we hear). We're all different, and it's a shame that many or most seem to feel they have to be "right."
  6. Great pressings imo so far! Right now
  7. I've already gone that far, I like it much better. More Billy. Who needs Noel.
  8. Actually I was wrong above, it's a Walmart exclusive cd. Shawn is right, just get the Dagger cd that the bonus material comes from, it's great.
  9. I thouight you were 'downsizing' Lon? Nice set I should be. This set for 120 dollars I could not say no to.
  10. This is not a new practice for Experience Hendrix.
  11. This is one of the nicest sounding lps I've ever heard, any way you want to define that.
  12. Scored an unplayed "Heavyweight Champion" vinyl set for a great price. Listening to "Coltrane's Sound" right now.
  13. Thanks, appreciate the good wishes. I am sure it will all work out okay. I'm trying to look at it all in manageable bites.
  14. That is a Target only exclusive version of the Hell People and Angels cd that includes a long piece formerly released (and still available) via Dagger Records.
  15. More and more computers just aren't fun for me. I practically lived inside my computer when i worked, and having not worked for most of five years I have played around on the internet a lot, but I'm less interested in that these days . . . . I think at the new place I'll not get internet and will set up my iMac at my parents and just use it when I'm there, that way I'll have my home free of a computer, going to try it, maybe then I'll enjoy the computer a bit more when I'm on. As I don't use my iPod at all any longer, I don't use iTunes except to burn an occasional disc, and I'm not really adept at digital music file handling and that's mainly because I just don't have a lot of interest in it. I love my discs and records and that's enough for me.
  16. I've tried the lossless stuff. I don't need digital files and just don't have to go there, don't want to go there at this time. I don't like computer audio, just not fun for me.
  17. Thanks Cary. It's a pain in the @%%. Anyone want to buy a house in central Austin?
  18. Reading a piece that an acquaintance had published within.
  19. I've gotten mine from Dusty Groove, so I'm no help.
  20. Yes, moving to Bay Village, Ohio to help my parents stay living in their home, they're not doing that well, and as I'm retired, widowed, etc. here in Texas I feel it's time for me to do this.
  21. I said that I hate them, I didn't even mention how they sound. I do hate the whole idea of stepping backward in audio quality as a standard, which seems where we're heading. I'm retired and I don't listen to music on the go because I'm either on a motorcycle or on foot right now, and don't feel it's prudent to listen to music in either of those situations these days in this town. I can hear the step down in audio quality on the systems I listen to and I don't look forward to the day when I'm expected to pay for MP3s about the same cost as a cd and there's few other options available. They just don't have a "convenience" factor for me and I'm avoiding them. Packing up all my stuff for a major cross-country move has made me realize I have far more recordings than I need and I only need to buy an occasional new reissue or new release, and I'll target vinyl when I can from now on because I'm really digging spinning vinyl! It's "new" for me again, digital is old hat.
