Inerconnects and power cords for sale
jazzbo replied to jazzbo's topic in Offering and Looking For...
One set of the Decware interconnects on hold. -
On hold for Cary.
-
Is that an official nickname, like Vonski? I know a few jazzers who call him that, first heard in private conversation with Danny D'Imperio.

Yeah, we're exchanging emails.

Inerconnects and power cords for sale

The power cords have sold. -
All the Savoy Lateef is excellent, in my opinion. Can't go wrong with Teefsky on Savoy.

For sale is a "home-made" (not by me, but by another Central Texas resident) preamp built with the SRPP circuit utilizing two 12AU7 tubes. A line stage preamplifier (no phono circuit) that sounds very nice, full bodied and detailed. I used this preamp in my main system for about 500 hours while my main preamp was at the manufacturers for a checkup. The case is wooden, the transformer is torroidal, and there are three inputs (selector switch on the front) and a volume control (on the top). Photos are on this page: http://app.audiogon.com/listings/12au7-preamplifier-srpp-diy?show_listing=true This is available for 275 dollars including postage within the continental USA. If interested, please contact lonjazz@yahoo.com Thanks!

I have ordered a Decware ZP3 phono preamp and so have put up for sale one of my PS Audio GCPH phono preamps. The item for sale is an early model, meaning it is from the first years sold, and does not have the later remote control option. It has a mono switch, a phase reversal switch, and a gain circuit so that it can be used directly with a power amplifier without an additional preamp. Quite a nice machine. Very adjustable gain and impedance controls for both MM and MC cartridges. Rich and musical sound. Very quiet. Fully balanced, with balanced and single-ended output. Owner's manual: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=7&ved=0CFsQFjAG&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.psaudio.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2011%2F11%2FGCPH-Phono-Preamplifier.pdf&ei=NlMyUOiBE4Gg2AW93oGACQ&usg=AFQjCNEmI1OiOmMU5cc5zMP6ynhTPQVofQ This item is in excellent condition and is available for 500 dollars including shipping within the continental USA. Original packaging included. Payment by check or money order please (don't wish to use paypal). If interested, please contact me at lonjazz@yahoo.com Thanks!

Congrats guys. Yeah, the weight gain is an adjustment. But it's good to be not smoking. Last month was 22 years of not smoking cigarettes for me.

I've washed several cell phones. I hate cell phones and I guess that reflects how I seem to forget to take care to remove them from pants pockets when doing laundry. Luckily they were just basic pay as you go phones, all I've ever used (or wanted to use). If they were expensive "smart phones" that would have been bigger problems, but I've not wanted to own any of those. -

Happy Birthday mspepper aka straight life!

MANY happy happy returns! -
Not referring there to A Drum Is a Woman, but to the material from two Newport LPs that were studio recorded but presented as live.
-
This week's "Suits." An okay show. I confess I just enjoy watching Gina Torres and Meghan Markle.

Official Indigos release (there has also been a boot on Jazz Essentials) I have A Drum is a Woman on a French CBS cd; the Jazz Essential release mentioned by Augustin is a bootleg, not sure about the Tristar (I've never seen that one). It's too bad we're being ripped off and not given the two cd version previously produced, not released. Also too bad that the studio material presented falsely as live does not seem to be included (though they would be oddly orphaned apart from the real live versions). Still, they would have made a nice disc and made this set more complete. There were two US releases of Blue Rose: a Mobile Fidelity and a Columbia.

John, thanks for that price info, that would be possible somewhere down the line. Looks easier to play than the contrabass violin, but as you say that is the only thing that is really like that. I have two Fender Jazz, both American Deluxe models, one with a fretted maple fingerboard, one a fretless rosewood fingerboard. I also have an American Fender Precision Deluxe, a Jack Casady Epiphone, and a Wishbass in persimmon wood made by luthier Steve Wishnevsky. I really should stop, I'm not much of a player.

Mezzrow/Really the Blues
jazzbo replied to AllenLowe's topic in Jazz In Print - Periodicals, Books, Newspapers, etc...
No matter how factual, I think this is a fascinating work that I will read again soon. Allen, I know you'll do a great piece, please let us know where and when it's in print. -
Looks like a fascinating instrument. I have a contrabass violin (not a great one) and five electric basses (yeah, I'm a nutty collector) and this looks really intriguing, but too expensive for me right now, but I can see where this, a contrabass violin and a Fender Jazz may have all the bases covered.

is this the way to market 'jazz'?
jazzbo replied to alocispepraluger102's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Don't follow what or how Tori Amos does. I just mean feature her playing piano and/or singing, not as a dubious sex object. -
My favorite was his Hawkman. RIP Joe.

She's really not all that. I'd rather see them market her playing a piano passionately. -
One of my favorite drummers!
