  1. Sure, but the sound isn't up to the Mosaic standards, and when you've bought this material several times, sound quality matters. And I've never seen it 10 dollars, maybe in Europe, though I didn't see it; I bought it from Europe when released for bout 20.
  2. Found a nice clean grey label Columbia pressing, like the one that my Dad has had in his collection all my life. Sounds spectacular!
  3. I recently sold that set (cheaply, what I paid for it) and though it sounded good, I think the Mosaic sounds noticeably better. But that may be system dependent. If you're willing to step down a little in sound quality, there is a Portrait two cd set (I think, Sony Special Products release anyway) "Braggin' in Brass" which has the 1938 material in decent cd sound. And the Columbia "The Duke" 3 cd set that has slightly better sound and is a nice overview of the entire Columbia period, twenties through fifties, nicely chose and annotated. For someone not "hard core" Ellington these may be good choices.
  4. Yes, the only time I've heard the Columbia material sound this good elsewhere is on Smithsonian lps of the material. . . it's vinyl, apples to oranges, but sounds very very good, just as the Mosaic does.
  5. Master of the understatement; it's not veiled at all. There's a reason I don't post much here and your "I'm ok Goodspeak's ok" attitude is one of them. I only came here because a couple regulars alerted me that the lunatic was shitting all over a thread and BINGO, it was true. Enjoy your musical discussions with him; I'm sure it will enhance your life if you like listening to complete garbage, which maybe you do. And now he'll get to play the drama queen martyr because of all the mean things I've said about him. Those should be hilarious in a clinical research kind of way. Well, you're certainly showing your true colors, Cap'n.
  6. Huh. I thought I got it from amazon.com when it was released, but I may have gotten it from Dusty Groove. Now amazon.com just has a single disc version, and the two disc version via MP3. I'd order from amazon.co.uk in your shoes. I've done that often, no problems, usually a cheaper option as well.
  7. I don't agree with your assessment of him, and the animosity behind it is thinly veiled. There's room here for everyone if civility and respect are kept in play. I've been reading GS for years and have enjoyed many of his contributions. You've made 29 posts in 4.5 years, and I have less to evaluate, and what happened on that other board (haven't been there in years, and wasn't a very pleasant place then) is less my concern. Anyway, you're both free to post, but if you're just going to post complaints about another member, I'll skip them.
  8. Well "Captain Hate," I can't say that I really disagree with many of your points, but Good Speak has as much right to post his opinions here as you do. Calls to have him banned because you don't agree with his viewpoint . .. not something i can support, not something I think moderators will support.
  9. I think Stiller has done some wonderful things. I think Zoolander is a brilliant satire and darned funny.
  10. It's there. . . Here . . .
  11. Hope it's a great one!
  12. Aha! gotchya. by the way, i'm John as well. i always said there are too many Johns... When I was a kid I would have loved to have a name like John. I'm Lonson, and nobody got it. My fourth grade teacher called me Alonzo 90 percent of the time and 85 percent of the time I didn't know who she was asking for when she said "Alonzo". . . . Anyway, sorry for the confusion.
  13. I do. I was agreeing with you. JETman is John. I was saying, a la Seth Meyer or Amy Poeler, "Really John? Will wrote all his own material as is customary on this show? REALLY?"
  14. Really John? Really? I don't think Ferrell wrote most of his sketches, sorry. There have been writing teams from the start.
  15. Personally, I think Ferrell has far more going for him than Sandler. I never really appreciated him until I saw his more dramatic work, especially "Stranger than Fiction" which is a brilliant little movie. I liked Sandler on SNL, and I did like "Funny People," but that's about it.
  16. Thanks mjzee, I missed that post. I no longer have the older cd, but there was an unsteadiness to portions.
  17. No, I don't want to watch online, I don't really enjoy watching videos online, on tv websites, youtube, etc. I'll wait and see if I want to rent or buy when it's on disk. I'm funny that way, but there it is.
  18. Wow, what an adventure! Here's hoping it all goes extremely smooth and easy.
