Sure, but the sound isn't up to the Mosaic standards, and when you've bought this material several times, sound quality matters. And I've never seen it 10 dollars, maybe in Europe, though I didn't see it; I bought it from Europe when released for bout 20.

Found a nice clean grey label Columbia pressing, like the one that my Dad has had in his collection all my life. Sounds spectacular!

I recently sold that set (cheaply, what I paid for it) and though it sounded good, I think the Mosaic sounds noticeably better. But that may be system dependent. If you're willing to step down a little in sound quality, there is a Portrait two cd set (I think, Sony Special Products release anyway) "Braggin' in Brass" which has the 1938 material in decent cd sound. And the Columbia "The Duke" 3 cd set that has slightly better sound and is a nice overview of the entire Columbia period, twenties through fifties, nicely chose and annotated. For someone not "hard core" Ellington these may be good choices.

Yes, the only time I've heard the Columbia material sound this good elsewhere is on Smithsonian lps of the material. . . it's vinyl, apples to oranges, but sounds very very good, just as the Mosaic does.

Huh. I thought I got it from amazon.com when it was released, but I may have gotten it from Dusty Groove. Now amazon.com just has a single disc version, and the two disc version via MP3. I'd order from amazon.co.uk in your shoes. I've done that often, no problems, usually a cheaper option as well.

I don't agree with your assessment of him, and the animosity behind it is thinly veiled. There's room here for everyone if civility and respect are kept in play. I've been reading GS for years and have enjoyed many of his contributions. You've made 29 posts in 4.5 years, and I have less to evaluate, and what happened on that other board (haven't been there in years, and wasn't a very pleasant place then) is less my concern. I think Stiller has done some wonderful things. I think Zoolander is a brilliant satire and darned funny.

Really John? Really? I don't think Ferrell wrote most of his sketches, sorry. There have been writing teams from the start.

Personally, I think Ferrell has far more going for him than Sandler. I never really appreciated him until I saw his more dramatic work, especially "Stranger than Fiction" which is a brilliant little movie. I liked Sandler on SNL, and I did like "Funny People," but that's about it.
