I'm kindof hoping there isn't. I have a feeling it will be just like Father Guido predicts, and I'll be shelling out dough for my sins for a long time. . . .

Awesome, that cd player has a great reputation. I'm very familiar with the 6N1P tube, yes it's a Russian tube type. It's used in both of the tube amps that I still have (sold two this winter but still have the Decware Torii Mk II and the Torii Mk III) and it's a very nice tube type in my opinion. Easy and affordable to find as well.

I'm no longer using my Decware ZBOX and am offering it for sale. (A ZBOX is a tube buffer amp/purist preamp especially designed to improve the sound of source components, and can also be used as a volume control between a source and amplifier). In January of this year Steve Deckert modified it and included a second input for me, which was really helpful, you can use it to route two different sources and switch between them. I'll include a TARA Labs power cord that I find really works well with this unit, and I'll include four Herbie's Audio Lab "Baby Booties" Tenderfeet which are an upgrade to the original feet. Decware product page: http://www.decware.com/newsite/zbox.htm Price: $350 including shipping to a continental US address. if interested please email lonjazz@yahoo.com Images may be found here: http://forums.allaboutjazz.com/picture.php?albumid=50&pictureid=595 http://forums.allaboutjazz.com/picture.php?albumid=50&pictureid=597 http://forums.allaboutjazz.com/picture.php?albumid=50&pictureid=594 http://forums.allaboutjazz.com/picture.php?albumid=50&pictureid=602

I'm thinning out my collection of stereo equipment and for sale is my gently used Marantz BD7004 Blu-ray player. This unit produces an amazing Blu-ray image and an excellent up-scaled DVD image. I was pretty amazed at the picture from my old DVDs. On top of that this unit has great sound from DVD, Blu-ray and excellent CD Redbook sound. This was a 900 dollar machine list price. There are a handful of scratches in the paint at the back of the top panel, and a tiny divet dent at the front of the top (came that way to me). Otherwise this is in excellent condition. Review on Marantz site: http://bluray-players.net/marantz/marantz-bd7004-review/ Techrader review: http://www.techradar.com/reviews/audio-visual/blu-ray-players/marantz-bd7004-blu... I believe this is well-priced at $370 including shipping to a continental US address. I'm thinning out my collection of stereo equipment and for sale is my gently used NAD T585 "Universal Player" (DVD, DVD-A, HDCD, CD, and SACD). This unit presents a very nice up-scaled DVD image, and its real strength may be its great sound from DVD, CD and especially SACD (this unit does not down-convert DSD to PCM before conversion as many players do). There are a few nicks on the body of this unit but it looks darned nice. And works perfectly. I'm including a brand new Monoprice power cord with this unit as well. Here is the NAD product page: http://nadelectronics.com/products/dvd-players/T-585-Universal-DVD-Player Techradar review: http://www.techradar.com/reviews/audio-visual/dvd-players/nad-t585-287140/review I am asking $360 for this unit including shipping within the continental US. If interested, please contact lonjazz@yahoo.com I'm having a hard time posting an image. If you past this into a browser, or click the link, it should bring up an image: http://forums.allaboutjazz.com/picture.php?albumid=50&pictureid=600

Well, thanks for letting me know that my personal experience isn't my imagination! I've been noticing this in tube amps ever since I was a kid and my Dad had Dynaco amps, and as a young man with my tube guitar and bass amps, and as an older man with my stereo tube amps about 20 years now. What type of cd player are you using S? I'm now using my old Decware modified Sony SACD/DVD player in the bedroom system as a source, I had put it up for a while because it seemed to be skipping on some discs, but a few years later it hasn't skipped yet! I have about a dozen different used old tubes that I can pop in that (the tube socket protrudes out of the back panel so it's really easy to change.) The different brands of 12AU7 tubes really make subtle differences in this player. Since I've reintroduced this player to that system, I've decided to sell my other backup players, a NAD T585 and a Marantz BD7004. That one tube (and additional power supply built within) makes a significant difference to my ears.

This is not associated with Mosaic Records, right? Just using the word "Mosaic' . . . . I think anything Geri Allen puts her attention to is at least worth investigating. What a talent.

Many many happy happy returns!

Or the crappy piano at Nola's Penthouse sometimes, there are lots of bad pianos recorded out there. But. . . in the right hands I forget about it.

Dan, first off I'm very happy that nothing further has been happening in your house! I can let myself imagine skulls in the image. Ever since I was a kid I could imagine images in patterns such as floor tiles or wall paper in old houses. . . so all I can say is I can let my imagination allow me to see them. Whether there's really anything there. . . that's a question I can't answer or even speculate on. The glowing light itself? Eerie. If I were there at that moment and saw that with my "naked eyes". . . I'd have been slightly alarmed, to say the least!

Yes, they're missing alright. Sigh. That's the only difference I've seen between the previous Legacy cds and this set.
-
Mine arrived early last week. I had about half of this material and liked it. I'm enjoying these sets and like the trend. They found yet another way for me to rebuy material! Congrats to them!
-
Looks as if this material IS included in the set, as the original "Bernstein plays Brubeck plays Bernstein" lp apparently included these tracks, which is not indicated by the discography I was using as my tool to see the contents of the set. It seems there are two titles for Columbia CL 1466. . . confusing, I thought the two titles were two different releases. Still don't see a resolution of that out there. Anyway, this looks like a complete set of studio material without vocals or other guests. Which is great!

I stand corrected. I was counting the couple of live and vocal lp's, especially one with McRae where at least half was just quartet. If there gonna do 19, why not do 25-30, include everything prior to his quartet with Mulligan, and get it over and done with??? John, I agree, but think that the size is likely considered prohibitive. Also I think record labels don't think in terms of "getting it over and done with." I have the material, so I'm not so heart-broken.
-
Hans, I do know that listing. I was referring to some other Bernstein material, such as The Dave Brubeck Quartet Paul Desmond (as) Dave Brubeck (p) Gene Wright (b) Joe Morello (d) NYC, February 14, 1960 CO64115 Tonight Columbia CL 1466 CO64116 I Feel Pretty - CO64117 Maria - CO64118 Somewhere - * The Dave Brubeck Quartet Plays Music From Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story (Columbia CL 1466) . . . .Which doesn't appear to be on this set. Maybe it is, added to the Bertnstein material included? Can't tell.
-
Yes, but what four or five? As far as I can tell there isn't, just the Bernstein. Of course there's four or five live and with vocals, but that's not in the scope of this set.
-
Updated, another sold.
-
Other than live stuff and material with vocalists I'd like to know what you think is missing, I think it's all there. Some feel that The Riddle should be there but it is not a Quartet album but one with Bill Smith and his composiitons. . . . Ah. . .the West Side Story lp is not on this set, and a bit of other material with Bernstein conducting is possibly not here, and I'm not sure why. That's the only thing I really see missing.
-
He got Pop Market to release a complete set of the Quartet's Columbia studio output, on sale at a really good price today only. By the way, Happy Birthday Dave.

I haven't ever used his services, but he's a legend among the jazz bulletin boards. I wish him well.
