  1. Cool, I bet it was something else. Let us know whether all the material has been remastered for this et. That might put me over the edge.
  2. And another packaging of Billie Holiday. I only really wish I could get the Mahavishnu bonus disc. I'll sleep okay without it.
  3. Amazon has used and new copies. . . .
  4. #27 is great. Available on cd via MPS.
  5. I'm with you. Listened to Miles Davis at Fillmore this morning and was really enjoying Chick. (And Keith. And Dave. And Jack. And Miles. And Steve. And Airto!) I was wondering if there was a Scientological context to his statement. But it doesn't matter. Neither does the statement.
  6. Many many happy returns. And post more too.
  7. I've stalled on this about halfway. It's great, but it may be time to slip some fiction in.
  8. Many many happy happy returns Jeff !
  9. Perhaps we'll see single or twofer releases. Is this associated in any way with the German twofer reissue series?
  10. Have a fantastic day!
  11. Many happy returns!
  12. I first encountered some of the Charlie Parker Records items, then Dial and Savoy. I'd really hate to choose between any of the Bird releases, and it's really hard to choose between Dial and Savoy. John makes a good point about the ballads. Still, I'll say Savoy, the sound, the sidemen, the energy, that's the Bird I reach for most. I have all the releases that Denon put out on separate cds, and the combined box set. Timeless material.
  13. Many happy happy returns!

  16. One of my very favorite singers. Not able to explain why as these others here do (and/or why not). But she completely captivates me at times. Amazing voice and notes and mind.
  17. Wow. If you even think you would like this set, get it.
  18. That's exactly right, the DVD inside the Complete Columbia Albums box set is identical save that it includes Walkin' from Kharisruhe.
  19. And yes TK, a boot.
  20. I love the physical product. I've enough music to last a lifetime, but i bet I can still buy more for years to come. No streaming for me, hate listening to music on computers. I hardly use my iPod, and my phone is just a phone, doesn't spin music. All that works fine for me.
  21. Many many happy returns!
  22. This however is the best way to go: http://www.mosaicrecords.com/discography.asp?number=1019&price=$15.00&copies=1%20CD
  23. Very recommended if you are a Merrill fan.
  24. Why myth? I really don't get your dismissive response to the idea that, yes, there are great artists, and yes, they do create from themselves, and no, they don't do audience polling ahead of time. I don't mean to be entirely dismissive, but I just have learned and feel that not one sentence in that paragraph was absolute, and to string them altogether that way is to make a myth of "the great artist." That's just how it is for me, I used to actually believe this, I no longer do. I don't always believe great artists are compelled to make great art, I don't always believe they always did so without input or reaction from "audience," I don't always believe they were ahead of all their audience. This "great artist" thing has really made it hard for me to read a lot of biographies of artists. You're entitled to believe so. if your learning and experience have led you there..
  25. I can imagine him ignoring them, and not discussing it with Burton. I have a huge imagination.
