    CD Japan

My most recent order (a 2 SACD Miles Davis set) from cdjapan will arrive tomorrow, shipped on Saturday, via FEEDEX. I paid "fees" for it, so shouldn't need to pay again.
  3. “Miles Davis '55 The Prestige Recordings” Concord 2 cd set, disc 2
  4. Mick Ronson exploded into my world when “The Man who Sold the World” came out–he was the first ROCK guitarist that excited me after Hendrix. This is a reissue/remix cd featuring Bowie’s intended title and cover.
  5. A cool morning, a bit warmer than yesterday. Memphis the new dog has just eaten and is chilling on the bed. I finished the last few tracks of the excellent promo sampler of Keith Jarrett’s Blue Note box set on ECM. A great selection of killer performances! I didn’t have time to listen to the entire disc yesterday evening. Now I am playing disc V1 of “Woody Shaw The Complete Muse Sessions” from Mosaic Records. Some great Cedar Walton!
  6. This is great music of Baden Powell arranged and played by his pianist son Phillipe, and the excellent Brazilian guitarist Mario Adnet. Mario Adnet and Philippe Baden Powell “Afro Samba Jazz, The Music of Baden Powell” Adventure Music cd
  7. “The Complete Roulette Dinah Washington Recordings” Mosaic Records disc 1 of 5 I love the sound Roulette produced on their records, almost without exception spacious and clear with a touch of warm room sound. I’ve neglected this box set too long, when I have listened to Dinah it has been the Emarcy/Mercury years mostly as I have all those complete sets Verve put out. Listening today the Billie Holiday influence hit me hard, but that’s not a bad thing and it’s not sheer imitation as I have encountered among others. There’s a greasy flavor to the arrangements for her and I like to sink back into that blue mood. 300×300 7.25 KB DavidF 2h Throwback time! CD Japan

DHL seems to be operating at its normal (brisk) pace from Asia.
  17. It’s a warm morning. Our new housemate American Bully Memphis has settled into the daily routines well after two weeks now. He’s napping on the bed with a full belly, giving me space on my listening chair. Starting off with a repeat listen to Monday Michiru “4 Seasons” Polydor Japan 2 cd, disc 1 This recording has always sounded so good and it sounds magnificent this morning!

  19. Starting off a warm drizzly morning with a disc released in May that my wife really likes and requested. . . . José James “1978 Revenge of the Dragon” Rainblow Blonde cd From a chatbot description: José James released his 13th studio album, 1978: Revenge of The Dragon, on May 16, 2025, via his own Rainbow Blonde Records. The album, inspired by the year of his birth, explores the rebellious, underground spirit of the late 1970s, drawing from jazz fusion, kung fu cinema, and Blaxploitation films, in contrast to its predecessor, 1978 (2024), which evoked the disco era of Studio 54. Recorded live to tape in one take at Dreamland Studios, a restored 19th-century church near Woodstock, New York, the project features a tight ensemble including Taali on vocals, BIGYUKI on keys and analog synth, Jharis Yokley on drums, bassists David Ginyard and Kyle Miles, and a brass section with Takuya Kuroda, Ebban Dorsey, and Ben Wendel. The album blends four original tracks with four reimagined classics, including Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You,” Herbie Hancock’s “I Thought It Was You,” the Rolling Stones’ “Miss You,” and the Bee Gees’ “Inside And Out”. The lead single, “They Sleep, We Grind (for Badu),” is a hypnotic groove steeped in dub, funk, and sampledelia, featuring a mantra-like hook and lyrical nods to Erykah Badu, Bob Marley, and Nas, and is accompanied by a kung fu short film. The album’s title and cover pay homage to Bruce Lee and the cultural impact of 1978’s kung fu cinema.
  20. Last week's "NOVA" narrated by one of my crushes, Ella Al-Shamahi.
  21. Another warm morning. Starting off with “Nelson Angelo E Joyce” on EMI cd. Interesting engineering here! And music as well from this then married couple. 399×400 28.4 KB followed by “LIVE IN CUBA Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis” Blue Engine 2 cd set, disc 1
  22. Finally getting to chronicle what I listened to early this morning. Started off with one of my favorite “Legends of Jazz” cds from Prestig/OJC, “Rusty Bryant Vol. 2” Idris Muhammed is so darned good hear, as are all the guitarists. 300×300 31.7 KB Followed by Dave Douglas’ new one, “Alloy” on Greenleaf Music cd. Three trumpets, vibes, bass and drums. Nice! 500×500 71.5 KB 2500×1667 376 KB

I definitely will limit my overseas orders, though I confess I ordered from cdjapan today . . . I could not resist the new Miles Davis 1964 SACD. There was an additional "fees/charge" of 13 dollars. . . I swallowed it as I had some cash from an audio sale.
  24. Now listening to “Alexis Cole with One For All – You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To,” Venus cd while Lucy and Memphis doze behind me about fifteen feet away on the bed. This is the life.
