I wasn't THAT impressed with her singing. But I'm glad she got that huge reaction from the audience. I've seen her on Larry King with that fawning judge Piers and have to say I wish I hadn't. Ugh.

I've had this since it was first released. . . .15 years ago! Unless you're talkign about the Scorcese "Blues" one . . . . Both are good, the 1994 is a wonderful compilation.

Okay. . . well I never considered this a "female Thelonious name" but rather an invented term to mean "about Thelonious" or "from the pen of Thelonious" or something like that. . . .

Most of us? Maybe many of us. . .not sure "most of us" jazz collectors have done so. Or want to. I would save my collection lossless or wav file maybe. . . MP3 is not the same to me. And I have over 10,000 discs. . . . I just would start over I guess. It wouldn't kill me. Might be fun!

Just watched the second episode of Parks and Wildlife. epj, it doesn't bother me that it's "too close to the source material" of The Office, because I like the style and approach (also used in part in ABC's Better Off Ted.) I think it asks too much of a network sitcom to be really delving into issues such as union stewardship of employees (and in my entire government service it was 'at will employment' with no protection of employees beyond federal protection) and a really serious look at procurement policies. Though in this episode they flirted with the latter by having a city manager push a project because federal money is being doled out, and by having an agency staff member induce contractors to show up at an introductory town hall meeting about the park. Nice to see Rashid Jones, Quincy's daughter. It's got promise. I like the tone and the portrayal of both government and citizenry. . . nice gentle satire.

Probably many of us have the RVGs of all these sessions, or these versions. . . . . A "jazz newbie" might be interested in this, at prices lowere than the RVGs? Maybe 30 or 35 dollars?

Interesting. The guys at Dusty Groove said that the 28 CD box set used to be CDRs, but are now proper manufactured CDs. What exactly is the difference? Would the fact that they are now proper CDs and CDRs mean that they are properly mastered and sound better? They're going to sound the same. . . they won't be mastered any differently. Theoretically the CDs will hold up to abuse better, may last another lifetime. . . . When I bought the set directly from Transparency in cdr form it was about thirty dollars cheaper. Believe it or not.

That 28 disc box is a CDR box if that makes a difference to you. Sound is okay on that one (haven't yet been home to hear this new one so I can't really compare). Performances are very good, if you like this you'll probably like that.

You should get the Granz DVD with the recording session on film!
