  1. Not the Mosaic, but I'm listening to Herbie Nichols on the Blue Note version.
  2. I'll try to stay in touch Chris. Sorry you feel you have to go. All the best.
  3. Yesterday watched Heroes and Castle, both online.
  4. I wish I could listen to my Bitches Brew SACD. I'm here in Ohio at my parents'. . . and I really just want to listen to that for some reason. Sometimes I just need to hear that music.
  5. I have never seen information on any previous replacements on the website, it may have been there, but I've never heard of it or seen it. I guess we'll have to wait til we hear from Kevin or someone else here. I'm not impatient; I know in time we'll have a way to get a replacement. Probably another month or so, just a guess considering the past events.

  7. Thanks. Accidentally profound I'm sure.

Sounded like something Charlie on NBC's "Life" would say. That's a good show. Have a suspicion last week we saw the last episode ever of that as the "season 2 finale."

  8. Very cool J!
  9. Hey E,

Where does your tagline come from ("There is no nothing, otherwise it would be something. Never forget that.")? Sends very Charlie Crews.

  10. I've been listenig to my dad's system this week. He has a Denon cd changer, a Sony turntable and a Sony receiver, not great stuff, not the cheapest stuff. I got him some good interconnects and speaker wire to use some years ago and that made a difference. What makes his system sound so good is he has old full range single-driver Electro Voice speakers with huge alnico magnets, reconditioned about six years ago, the whole system in a beautiful cherry wood cabinet made for him in Philadelphia in 1963. I've spent a lot of years with this system when it had Dynaco tube components, then Pioneer, then Sony and Denon, and it always sounds very coherent and smooth, and I think it's the speakers, one sound source per channel, no crossover.
  11. VB, so sorry to hear this news and you have my deepest sympathies. Almost exactly a year and a half ago I lost my wife relatively suddenly and I was knocked back and halted for a spell, and then my life began again. As Jim recommends, draw inspiration from all that she gave you and the very nature of her personality and prowess. My mother is just two days away from an important, and we believe, beneficial operation that was dangerous. All was well, she had pretty good hospital care but it's impossible I think to have GREAT hospital care. The fragility of life is an amazing thing that imbues it with great magic and can be our emotional ruin if we allow it. Celebrate her life and be the man she wants you to be.
  12. How was this one? The commercials crack me up. Damn...I didn't know you could quote two people in one post! It was pretty good, but I think I had a whole different appreciation to some of it due to 27 years of state agency experience.
  13. Kenny and I worked out a trade, the upcoming Armstrong for the Condon. Thanks Kenny!

  15. Many more happyhappy ones!
  16. I think of Chuck as the Zenmaster of the board. He's really real.

    You & I

Reminds me of when I saw the Shearing Quintet. I saw Stevie in (I think) '75. Unfortunately, it was not the kind of setting that inspired intimacy and soft talking. It was the Cow Palace in SF, and he was so far away, the binoculars someone brought didn't even allow me to see his expressions. I saw him in a very large venue and he was also far away. . . but he brought on/out that intimacy.
  18. I got my copy on Saturday but didn't listen to any of it. . .and then flew off to Ohio for two weeks and left it behind. . . so. . . don't know yet.
  19. Jay, I'm very happy you have survived the layoffs! I worked in the Human Resources department when Bush's governor's office appointed someone to head our agency and reduce the staff by nearly forty percent. I processed out literally hundreds of persons I had worked with for years. It was the saddest period of my working life. I in fact had to arrange a transfer to another division and a job I didn't care too much for just to remain employed myself after we had performed all our work in the downsizing. I might be facing this same situation again if I hadn't retired. . . I think Texas state government is going to see more downsizing soon.

    You & I

Okay fass, I'm really not that fond of watching things on youtube but I watched it just for you. This is a great song, so is Ribbon in the Sky (even though American Idol contestants have made it hard to listen to again and again!) Nice performance. I saw Stevie around this time. It was one of the most amazing concerts I've ever attended. He would talk softly, and the entire audience would silence completely to hear what he said.
  21. I'll be passing. Wide berth.
  22. An interesting show about Annie Oakley on PBS, watching it with my parents.
  23. Oh yeah, great playing, I've been listening since about 2006 to '66 through '71 more than any other years. . . and it makes the other years really pale for me, as much as I do like the early years with hte Godchauxs. . . .
  24. Many Happy Returns Allen!
