I just came back from seeing this. I enjoyed it. I read the work when it was first compiled as a graphic novel, and maybe once since then but at least a dozen years ago. And I've not read much of Moore otherwise, nor much of comics since then, so I'm not sentimentally attached to the material, author or anything else. It was a fun afternoon movie. Pretty well-done for a fantasy comic-book film. Some excellent effects. I really liked Archimedes and Mars.

Flurin, I would wager the Ascension has both takes on it; the version in the box set (Volume 3) certainly does. I know that we'll keep seeing Trane and Miles etc. over and over. They are the only sure things the labels have. And I must say, I like having the "lp facimile" aspect of these reissues (because I've had the albums) and the sound is the best yet.

No. The Mosaic had EMI, not Universal, umbrella material. JSP boxes of Django. . .that's another question. They encompass I think both the Mosaic and the JIP discs.

I think this is a great set. The material I turn to most often are the Confusius Restaurant tracks. These are now available through Gambit.

I like almost all the suites. Maybe they WERE pompous, but they set Ellington apart and I love the way he/Billy/both voiced the sections.

Oh I'm counting them, though I really would have liked more winter, we had only one freeze I think, and it wasn't hard. Gonna be some bugs!

I have been online while the HVAC technician is out getting my AC going. Capacitor went out and the condensor wouldn't kick in. . .been that way a while. I got tired of sweating. . .it's getting warm here lately!

Sorry, I didn't see this post til today. How I hear it is that the DSD KOB (don't have the Japanese 1958 Miles) seems "bigger" --- I pretty much hear it how you do, this new US version sounds a bit warmer and less "etched." This is true for the SACD version in comparison as well. I like the new version, a lot.
