  1. I'm kindof partial to Jsngry. Would have used it myself if it weren't taken already!
  2. Here too. . . but Vietnamese restaurants will have hot sauce, big dispensors of it.
  3. I believe this, coming from someone "in de know." Well, in my crappy circumstances of the present, I won't care if I don't get this before Christmas. . .but it's sad to see the set share the "delay disease" of predecessors.
  4. Hey Bruce, you and me both. It's the opposite of a transition to alertness!
  5. You are some brave mofos. I am not ashamed to admit I stopped pursuing the hot sauce experiences some time back. I prefer a milder salsa. Such as this one of my very favorites (store bought, really there's nothing compared to some homemade!):
  6. That's what I received as well.
  7. I should have put a smiley in there. . . . "I get it. The "e" in dope is silent!"
  8. Well, having read the book about five times before the movie, that never occurred to me. The new version is supposed to highlight this a bit more than the original. . . .
  9. What? I heard it WAS dope!
  10. I think he means they're no longer available for him to download again from eMusic because the label pulled the seed files.
  11. A year later and I still love my A8s!
  12. I HOPE there is a 50th anniversary edition and I hope I'm around to see it. I posted about this on the dvd thread. . . .Exciting. I've been reading a lot about the making of the film and the writings reference the version mistakenly released to theaters that had some variants, and a documentary about the making of the film, and I was hoping I'd one day get to see those. . . and they'll be in the five disc set. You'll be able to purchase 2, 4 and 5 disc versions of this around Christmas.
  13. The TOCJ sounds pretty tasty to me. I don't know for sure that I have ever heard the TOCJ, but I really like the RVG.
  14. Not being at home with my collection for some time now and some time to come I can't verify Ed's count. . . but it seems quite right in all respects. It may not be a set worth pursuing Hans taking in your concern for vocals. The individual cds that Capitol has put out actually do capture the jazziest sides.
  15. No kidding. Fantastic music, almost everything on that label is fascinating to hear. Right now, Columbia Piano Jazz Moods.
  16. Didn't you play in the Eagles the year before they broke up?
  17. I'm guessing "RM" is "ReMastered" (?)
  18. I'd like to see Jukebox Ella: the Singles Vol. 2 be released soon.
  19. I never got to hear him perform, but I've been a fan since then as well. (We're showing our age!) I've worn out more than two copies of "Donny Hathaway Live." That sucker just was a party in a paper sleeve!
  20. Amen brother! He's one of my favorite philosopher's too. "Everything is everything. . . "!
  21. Yes, and cduniverse still shows October 2.
  22. In the 1960s, when I started listening to jazz, I passed over a lot of hard bop records because of their formulaic quality. Later on - late 70s to the present - I was able to get past the formulas and hear the musicians and the music. I missed out on some great music back then, but I'm lucky enough to be able to hear it now - and can hear it differently than I could have back then. I don't find Leeway a boring date at all. Three of the tunes are taken at similar medium tempos, there's no ballad, and only one uptempo tune. Perhaps that's what Big Al is tuning into. Some fine solos throughout, and good tunes - a good record, to my ears. I know what you mean . . . I've been really into hardbop, then bored, then back in past all the trickbags and formulae, then bored. . . . There are some dates that just don't go BEYOND the form and fashion and are boring. Leeway has LOTS going for it. But like some stunning beauties this date sort of takes its time revealing deep charms to you. . .
  23. Oh, definitely: advanced copies of all the music on cdr were distributed by Columbia.
  24. I got this in from da bastids yesteday and listened to the first disc. It's nice. This is not my favorite period of Ra, but it's a good show and the sound is nice.
  25. "Willie Weeks y'all! WILLIE WEEKS!"
