Oh, definitely: advanced copies of all the music on cdr were distributed by Columbia.

I got this in from da bastids yesteday and listened to the first disc. It's nice. This is not my favorite period of Ra, but it's a good show and the sound is nice.

I too find some hardbop dates. . . boring. (Formulaic. To be polite.) THIS isn't one of them!

Da Bastads is selling a new Jobim Banda Nova cd, which is apparently also available as a dvd sometimes, Jobim live at Montreal Jazz Festival 1986. Awesome.

Well, Disco 3000 two cd edition. . . it's out.

I have three versions of this music: this box set pictured, the Davies remastered JSP, and the material on King Jazz cds. I think the pictured box set has my favorite sound.

Just when I got interested in girls on tv I moved to Africa for over five years and didn't see but a handful of hours of tv! Before I left Lost in Space was my favorite show. . . I remember thinking Angela Cartwright was cute. . . .

I bought a US copy at Tower Austin years ago, and a UK copy online a few years after that.

Right. Can't take it with you. Although if we started a thread about that. . . probably some would disagree. It's that kind of place.

MG, Pain In The Arse

Thinking of your musical interests as well as I can assess them, I'd recommend: Jazz Crusaders Sonny Stitt Buddy Rich These are all excellent sets. The Stitt may well be too much of a good thing. But it's a GOOD THING, too much of it. . . maybe.

My two favorites were records that my parents had when I was a kid, but even beyond the sentimental aspects, these are excellent albums, and good places to go after Time Out. . . . Time Further Out Bossa Nova USA

Well, it appears to be delayed. Cduniverse has it both as September 25 and October 2, depending where you look. It's been reported at AAJ that Jazzloft sent out an email announcing the delay.

Hey, let's have a thread specifically to show off our new toys! My latest. . . . I was surprised with a bonus check, and I immediately bought some nice gifts for the people who are selflessly taking care of my house and pet while we're in Houston. Then. . . . Well I've wanted to have a bass guitar to play around with for some time. I had been reading about "Wishbasses" built by Steve Wishnevsky for some time and saw one on ebay and impulsively selected "buy it now." It should arrive tomorrow. I've got time on my hands, won't hurt to have this in my hands for a while.

OKay, OK, here's back to you. Got in two of the new ones yesterday, the Russell and the Monk. I haven't yet spun the Monk. The Russell has excellent sound. The alternates at the end are nice, but. . .not really essential.

My goodness! I don't think I've ever bought more than four copies of anything (for myself, that is). MG I applaud that! Somewhere down the road I've been cured of a lot of the silliness, mostly from now nearly two years of having to concentrate on my wife's health, though the silliness was disipating earlier. I do like SACD but since I've been listening to only just a little Monitor Audio i-deck system, an i-Pod, and a fifty dollar dvd/vcr setup (all with some isolation footers and interconnects that make a difference) for over a month and enjoying music immensely. . . well I don't know what conclusion to make of that. Music is such a narcotic for me, and the save breast so needy of the soothe, I can enjoy it served up high dollar or at gutter levels. . . . There is a little bit of an upside to this type of thing. . . I've given away a lot of duplicates/different versions of sessions and I've seeded more than several jazz passions in doing so.

Original US release was on Columbia. It was a French film, wasn't it? So maybe it was originally recorded for Fontana in France/Holland, with Columbia's agreement to the use of Miles' services - given that Philips in those days was the European licensee for US Columbia. I never appreciated that before because all of Miles' albums were out on Fontana over here. MG Right, directed by Malle. I have always seen this title on Universal/Verve label cds, never Columbia/Sony, so . . . must be some reason. Columbia/Sony would put it out for the dollars if they could.

yourmusic has not stocked any Concord/OJC products in some time, I wouldn't think you'll see these there.

Nah, that Miles was Fontana, Verve territory. There's also an Ella Live at Mr. Kelly's. . . .
