  1. Is there a list anywhere online that would give one an idea of what's available?
  2. O.K. now I am convinced, there are people on this Board that get commission from Mosaic, there can be no other reasonable explanation. Looks like there may be a Mosaic order in the near future.
  3. If anything goes pear-shaped with the sale of these 2 below, Red Mitchell/Harold Land Quintet: Hear Ye Hear Ye Hear Ye Teddy Charles/ I Sullieman/Mal Waldron/John Jenkins: Coolin I will gladly take both of them of your hands, he said hopefully.
  4. I'm kind of in the same situation as Quincy regarding the Mulligan, I have the V.V. date and I like it but don't really love it, so is it fairly representitive of the rest of this set? Also have Elvin's "At This Point In Time", again, it doesn't really blow me away, but I am very curious to hear the sessions with Joe Farrell but don't really want to buy the whole set just to hear them.
  5. As a result of king ubu's post, pm sent regarding; Randy Weston "Monterey '66" Verve and Chet Baker Sextet Pacific Jazz.
  6. I'm looking for a decent copy of this two-CD set, if anyone out there has one they'd like to get rid of for cash money.
  7. Just bringing this one up for air as I have been on a serious Marsh kick recently and I would like to know more about the difference between the hard and soft versions of the book before I order it. I think I can get the hardback for around €80, while the soft version is around €40, I believe there are no pictures in the soft version. Basically is the hardback worth the extra cash? Also, is there much detail on the few encounters he had with Art Pepper? Thanks in advance.
  8. You don't have to wait to hear "Heavy Soul", it's already an RVG. RVG Edition Well worth getting, imho of course.
  9. Thanks for the replys................ Next stupid question, are either of them worth the extra money?
  10. Can somebody out there explain what is the story with these formats? XRCD24 CD Gold CD Are they comparable to SACDs? Are they just K2s with a fancy name?
  11. Nice one, I'll print this off and read it later, it looks like a bit of an epic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Yes they have abandoned Copy Protection, I mentioned this in the Aug 15th RVGs thread, I also mentioned it in the June 2006 Connoisseur CDs thread, but no one believed me then either.
  13. I have a few of the recently released "Live" albums by this group and their sound is growing on me. Not cutting edge by any means but I feel no less "commercial" than alot of the "Soul Jazz/Bogaloo" stuff from the same time period, stuff that seems to get alot more respect. I have to admit I am tempted by this set, time to listen to some sound clips on the Mosaic site methinks.
  14. I'm pretty sure he's on all of the tracks on the original "Workout", maybe not as in your face as on other sideman dates. Try listening to it through some decent "Cans" and you'll see what I mean.
  15. And you get 2 other really cool photos, one of them being an excellent one of Philly Joe in full effect, hat, waistcoat, smoke hanging from the lip, and totally into the moment.
  16. Not even if I start smoking?
  17. Since we're talking about the excellent new cover for "Another Workout", with the fantastic shot of Mobley, it's worth mentioning that there is an even cooler photo of Philly Joe inside. It is upsetting to know I'll never be that cool.
  18. Totally agree with Paul's point, I hadn't listened to this album in ages myself and was kicking myself for not having done so as I listened to the new RVG version, but isn't this always the way? You upgrade only to find that you should have listened to the old version more often. I must have had fond memories of it though as I usually don't upgrade unless it's something I totally love. The new version does sound very good, to my ears anyway, has a little more warmth that the 20 bit, it's just I was disapointed with the slight flaw. However I think it's interesting that it was also on an exsisting Japanese version, I mean, aren't those guys the so called experts in these matters, didn't they start this whole "bit" and "sound upgrade" madness in the first place?????????????? Anyway I think the point I'd like to make is that it's an essential piece of work whatever version you have. Now, what is the story with those JVC XRCD and Gold versions? I think I need to buy this album again as a sort of punishment.
