Anthony Cox is really good on this:
  2. Everything from Tea For Two through Ornithology are on this:
  3. So what does it mean when it says: Note: This is an import edition (manufactured outside of Japan). Because the Gibbs/Nistico says that.

    Al Cohn

Yup, Al was the real deal. He had a great run of albums on Concord. Also check out his son Joe Cohn:
  20. I have a sealed copy of That Certain Feeling (TYCJ 81058) that I acquired at the Mosaic open house last year - forgot I owned it on the Mosaic Select. I'll trade it for something interesting - my tastes run towards BN, Prestige, etc. (although I already have a lot of those catalogs), or just see if you have something I'd like. I've never done this before, and plan to just drop it in a padded mailer.
  21. I have the original CD release of Stop And Listen, and it's mastered at a really low level. It needs a good remastering; I hope this is it.
  22. Yeah, I love this site too. It persists because we discuss substance. The bulletin board format so suits what we do. I wish there was a way to create some sort of index.
  23. I'm listening now to Archeophone's "1912" release, and am stunned by the excellent, transparent sound quality of these very early recordings. In the booklet, under "Notes on Technology," they write: "Transfers on this CD were made directly from the original discs by microprocessor computing at 16-bit sampling rates." Since that's all they wrote, I'm left to wonder: have they found a way to transfer recordings without the use of a stylus? I'm guessing not, but who knows.
