  1. I still have not torrented (for lack of a better word). I'm concerned about viruses, but also about the ethics of torrenting (floabw). As I understand it, the torrent service can use the computing power of your computer for their purposes, and I don't want to give these unknown people that ability.
  2. Almost everything... (released on MCA) And there are a few on Folkways, etc...but yes, 99% of so were for Columbia/Sony.
  3. If we could get this down to a protocol, I'd be cool with it.
  4. Any thoughts on this box? I don't have much Byas.
  5. So if you post the Google page, the Organissimo member will be able to read it, but if you post a link to the actual WSJ page, then they cannot?
  6. Review in the Wall St Journal. Please let me know if it cannot be read in its entirety: WSJ
  7. I long ago lost the allure of radio. I lived in various places in NYC where the radio experience was frequently punctuated by static. Even in the car, we now listen to Sirius/XM. Radio, at least aimed at adults, does need to rethink what it needs to do to survive. Attractive on-air personalities are one, fewer commercials are another.
  8. OK, thanks. That audio was there when I first read the article. From the posting of the Twitter link, it sounded like he had added an additional audio, perhaps recorded at Bailey's home, but I misunderstood. The audio is interesting. It sounds like Bailey wasn't as much interested in forward propulsion as Elvin was; Bailey's not pushing Trane as much as providing decoration around what Trane is playing. Bailey would have been a nice match for Monk, though.
  9. I don't see a link to that audio on the Iverson page.
  10. So you didn't throw them out either, didja?
  11. I wonder when they'll start coming out with the movies and TV shows: Eat The Document, Renaldo and Clara, Hard Rain, the 30th Anniversary Concert.
  12. I have no use for them. I don't read Japanese. They make it difficult to file away the CD. They crease easily. Yet before I throw one away, I feel a sharp pang of regret. Please advise.
  13. Nothing of Dylan's is owned by Universal, AFAIK.
  14. Sorta, but not exactly..."International Jazz Emporium - Bethlehem Records - Distibuted by Caytronics - A Cayre Industries Company"...which was the Cayre Brothers who did found Salsoul, but who had already been involved in the record business prior to so doing. http://www.discogs.com/label/Caytronics http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salsoul_Records http://hem.bredband.net/funkyflyy/salsoul/story.html http://businessprofiles.com/details/cayre-industries-inc/NY-382527 That "International Jazz Emporium" is what stands out to me...what kind of a shell was that? I just got the Japanese release of This Time The Drum's On Me. The disc states "All tracks licensed courtesy of VMG Salsoul LLC, a Division of Verse Music Group."
  15. RIP. Thanks for all the great music.
  16. Correct, unless the FCC gave a special exemption. WBAI's position on the dial is unusual - nonprofit stations are usually positioned below 92 FM; those stations also tend to be underpowered and in a crowded position on the dial. 99.5 FM could be very valuable; I think they need to bring in some clever lawyers to do some haggling.
  17. I see this was already mentioned in the Randy Weston thread.
  18. Pacifica Seeking To Lease WBAI New York
  19. Follow the Amazon link I posted. There's a second Jarrett album that will also be released on November 25, per Amazon:
  20. No, I think it refers to the flaming.

  22. Release date November 25. Amazon Keith Jarrett: electric guitars, Fender bass, drums, tablas, percussion, recorder and piano. Recorded at his home studio in 1986, No End illuminates hitherto undocumented aspects of Keith Jarretts music. He is heard here on electric guitars, electric bass, drums and percussion, overdubbing tribal dances of his own devising: Somehow something happened during these days in the 80s that wont ever be repeated,he writes in his liner notes. There was really, to my knowledge, no forethought or composition in the typical sense going on; just a feeling or a rhythmic idea or a bass line concept or melody. None of this was written down. On the instrumentation: Drums were always with me in some way, Jarrett reflects. I have always been drawn to instruments that you touch directly, without a mechanism in between. Therefore, I cannot say that I have ever loved the piano as much as the drums or guitar. With, primarily, these instruments (piano this time has only a cameo role) Jarrett has shaped one of his most unusual albums.
  23. Release date November 19. Amazon
