  1. You know you're gonna...
  2. This looks exciting. Although I know a little about McLaughlin in the '60's (Extrapolation, Things We Like, Where Fortune Smiles), I've always thought of him as more of a New York musician, hearing his playing really come alive through Miles, Devotion and Lifetime. It'll be interesting to read about all the musicians swirling through the London "scene" in the '60's.
  3. The sound quality on the Live Trane box isn't very good. Sounds remote and not very distinct.
  4. Jackie Lomax has passed: http://www.jackielomax.com A terrific soul singer. RIP.
  5. So much for the transfer of the masters to LOC being benign-to-good. How many years has it been, and they still haven't even unpacked them?
  6. Yes, the extra tracks are from the Live Trane box; nothing new here.
  7. Speaking only for myself, I have no problem with the self-promotion, but since this is really an advertisement, please consider donating some money to help maintain this website. There's currently a fundraising drive going on. See:
  8. Really? I went through the trouble of finding the plain-vanilla html link through Google. Sorry you couldn't read it. Maybe it's a foreign-country issue. Can any other non-subscriber to WSJ read it?
  9. I did a search on US Amazon for Ganda Fadiga, and came up with many, including the two TMG recommended: 1992 Vol. 1 1992 Vol. 2 I listened to some of the samples, and cannot relate.
  10. A short reminiscence on why the song has meaning for him: WSJ
  11. Paypal pmt coming at'cha. Thanks for hosting this great site, Jim.
  12. When you click "View New Content," look at the column on the left side of the screen. Look at all 3 sections: By content type, By time period, and Other.
  13. For your second hand.
  14. The incorporation of OJC under the Universal umbrella may only apply in Italy. Still, we do have imports. Not true. See the link in the original post.
  15. There's a night of a duo with Brotzmann. Not that Brotzmann's a shrinking violet...
  16. OK, Keiji Haino's coming to Houston soon, so I guess I'd better bone up on him, as I know nothing of his work. Is he just a Brotzmann on guitar? Any titles you can recommend? Sorry for hijacking the Coryell thread.

  18. Coryell's vocals ruined this album: But strangely enough, I saw/heard him do two concerts around this time of this material, and he did not sing. Very wise; the band was burning.
  19. Happy birthday, and many more!
  20. Release date October 15:
  21. Another vote for the Mulligan; I thoroughly enjoy it. Don't overlook the Cohn, Newman and Green if you like Basie-type small group swing. I wish I could love the Bechet more, but there are too many alternates for my tastes. And a big thumbs up for Art Blakey - Hard Bop; probably the best of the Jackie McLean sessions, with beautiful sound.
  22. Could you please provide a link? I don't see it available at cdjapan.
