  1. As per the Mosaic booklet, "Note: These nine selections were initially scheduled to be issued as HODGES BY HODGES Verve V6-8391." So I guess a cover was never released. Oh well. Tracks are 11 - 19 in Marcello's post. Shorty Baker, Ray Nance (tp), Lawrence Brown, Booty Wood (tb), Johnny Hodges (as), Jimmy Hamilton (cl, ts), Jimmy Jones (p), Aaron Bell (b), Sam Woodyard (d). Nola Studios, NYC, September 8, 1960 (and maybe Sept 9). Arrangements by Mercer Ellington, Jimmy Hamilton, Gerald Wilson, and John Sanders.
  2. On the Mosaic "Complete Verve Johnny Hodges Small Group Sessions 1956-61," one of the albums was "Hodges By Hodges." Can anyone furnish a link to a scan of the original cover? Much thanks in advance.
  3. Sugar Hill owned the Chess masters for awhile (I believe they sold them to Universal), and led to a resurgence for that label... I had their issue of Chuck Berry - The Great 28.
  4. "Bebop Story": 100 (!) CDs from Membran...currently available @ $90 an Amazon reseller... Amazon Track listing can be found here: Jazz500
  5. Popmarket is offering (today only) "Miles Davis - The Complete Columbia Albums Collection" (52 albums on 70 CDs + a DVD) for $199.99, with free shipping.
  6. Thanks! Enabled me to complete my download of Big John Patton's "Got A Good Thing Goin'."
  7. Somehow Fantasy was able to have the rights to release that Trane European box set back 10 years ago or whatever it was. Maybe it doesn't need to be Universal (because I can't see them doing it). Those were Pablo masters.
  8. Very sad: New York Post
  9. For the record, I always thought this was the front cover of Europe '72!
  10. Just received Europe 72 Vol 2 (along with the Miles Bootleg). I find it funny how they're slavishly imitating the LP packaging of what is now Vol 1: The totally white inside (even on the original, I never understood why), the artwork, the typeface, the "labels" on the CDs, the booklet containing just photos... I also ripped the cover trying to extricate the booklet. It's also interesting that I paid $9.99 for it from Amazon...I think that was the list price of the original LP.
