Somehow Fantasy was able to have the rights to release that Trane European box set back 10 years ago or whatever it was. Maybe it doesn't need to be Universal (because I can't see them doing it). Those were Pablo masters.

For the record, I always thought this was the front cover of Europe '72!

Just received Europe 72 Vol 2 (along with the Miles Bootleg). I find it funny how they're slavishly imitating the LP packaging of what is now Vol 1: The totally white inside (even on the original, I never understood why), the artwork, the typeface, the "labels" on the CDs, the booklet containing just photos... I also ripped the cover trying to extricate the booklet. It's also interesting that I paid $9.99 for it from Amazon...I think that was the list price of the original LP.

I read when their most recent album came out that it was their last one on WB. It didn't say, but I'm sure it's because of their age. Probably no other major wanted to sign them, and they didn't want to record for an indie (or worse, "REM/CD Baby." Could you imagine??) So they decided to pack it in. Just my guess, but it makes sense.

Agreed that this was a great tour. I'm going the low-rent route by ordering Europe '72 Vol. II.
