2020 NEA Jazz Masters & Tribute Concert at SFJAZZ Center Announced! 2020 Jazz Masters Tribute Concert THU, APR 2, 2020 · FREE CONCERT The National Endowment for the Arts, in collaboration with SFJAZZ, will honor 2020 NEA Jazz Masters Bobby McFerrin, Roscoe Mitchell, Reggie Workman, and Dorthaan Kirk—who is the recipient of the A.B. Spellman NEA Jazz Masters Fellowship for Jazz Advocacy— with the nation’s highest honor in jazz. This free and open to the public concert event will feature performances by stars of the jazz and music world. Tickets about this event, as well as other related NEA Jazz Masters events in San Francisco featuring the 2020 Jazz Masters will be announced at a later date. +++ I'll DEFINITELY go to this!

That was a good night there!

Saw him tear it up with David Murray at the NYC Winter Jazzfest in March. Very impressive! In the band were the players on the new album: Ian Kenselaar (bass) and Nic Cacioppo (drums).

A really good live album from these guys in their prime.

What I meant was, I think I have pretty much everything from the "1963 New Directions" set except the Newport stuff. So I looked up the Impulse album (which also includes 1965) and it was only about $10, so I ordered it ASAP!

Just discovered the Brit prog band, The Pineapple Thief. Very much in the same vein as Porcupine Tree. Even MORE so now that the band includes PT drummer Gavin Harrison.

For some reason I don't have the Newport stuff. I can rectify that easily with this ...

I have this one, too. I assume a reason to buy the new one is because "Many of them are previously unpublished in any form."

I've seen part of the film. Didn't like it, but I generally don't like biopics anyway.

Don't remember how much I paid at the time, but I'm sure it was <$100. Anyone know what's driving up the price? Maybe it's sampled a lot?

I bought all the metal spine sets when they came out and haven't paid any attention to their after-market value. But I was at Amoeba yesterday and was amazed to find "On the Corner" selling for $150! Most of the others were in the $50 range.

Saw 3 of those acts at Big Ears in March. All were excellent!
