  1. Dang! Never even heard of that one. Oops, I mean: Leeway, please return my copy of The Haunt that I loaned you. (I keep trying that, but it hasn't worked yet.) You can still get it from Bobby at his site! I had done a quick check of Naughton' site, but missed it, I guess due to the cover design change . And also not looking very carefully

  5. I checked Discogs earlier and there is no CD listed. Obviously, they missed the double CD pairing with "Live," so maybe they missed that too. Maybe you're aware it was also released in the Americans Swinging in Paris series paired with Les Stances a Sophie. But I agree it would be nice to have a CD issue from Chuck with the original art, etc. Chuck's been over this before, but he licensed the tapes from EMI to do the vinyl "back in the day." He'd have to do that again for the CDs, which is probably expensive and not easy to do. They were originally released as Pathe LPs and the Nessa issues followed shortly after, though they had more pressing runs than the Pathe (and Odeon Japan) vinyl. I think he also said he still had the tapes that he used for the LPs, the CD issues of Les Stances a Sophie have all been needle drops as far as I'm aware. whilst we're discussing "People...", can anyone shed light on the different covers? Mine's as above but almost in negative with a white background and yellow text/picture. Just curious and with apologies if it's been covered (no pun intended) elsewhere (too lazy to search) Printing error, according to a post by CN a while back. thanks CT. knew i should've searched for a post...there's always an answer I have the same cover, kind of reverse yellow/white image. From what you say, looks like we're not likely to get a true Nessa CD reissue; too bad.
  6. Not sure if it was ever reissued on CD on it's own, but it was included as part of the 1998 CD reissue of Shepp - Live in San Francisco. OK, I did not know that. Makes a good pairing. I have the Live in S.F. on vinyl.

  8. I always remember Pogo for this line; nevermore true than today:
  9. This is a pretty hot set, recorded live in San Francisco at the Both/And Club. Archie Shepp, Roswell Rudd (who is really outstanding here), Beaver Harris, and two bassists, Donald Garrett and Lewis Worrell. I don't think it's been released on CD.
  10. X-Men League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Marvel Super Heroes
  11. Iron Chef Man of Steel Plastic Man

I've never heard anything of the kind about Kevin Johnson (has this been documented anywhere?), but if it is true, it makes me wonder more than a little that he recently married Michelle Rhee, the former chancellor of the DC school system and someone very active in education lobbying and consulting.
  13. Chuck, any chance of a CD reissue of "People in Sorrow"? I note that Toshiba did a couple of CD issues, last one in 1988. Time for a Nessa CD?
  14. Sonny Sharrock, Peter Brotzmann, Bill Laswell, Shannon Jackson (no "Ronald" on the album credit). Enemy LP. Rough, tough and ready to rumble.
  15. Peter Brotzmann, Toshinori Kondo, John Zorn, Tony Coe, Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky, Louis Sclavis, J.D. Parran, Alan Tomlinson, Hans Bauer, William Parker, Tony Oxley. My alternate title: "Love Song for Pterodactyls." Kick-ass album. FMP LP.

  19. Dangerous ground would have been fun!. Oh well:
  20. A nice find at a local sale. Strong, interesting music from Mali, Niger, and Upper Volta. On the Nonesuch Explorer series. Quite good sound.
  21. Maks one ill just to hear of it. The article quoted speaks of a video of the accident. How or why should there be one? I hope nothing like that circulates on the Internet. It only degrades the victim. Something very sick about that.
  22. I went to one of those shows. Saw The Doors 3 or 4 times back in the day. No hype, Jim Morrison was amazing, an utterly compelling stage figure. Eventually, drugs and drink brought him down, but for a while, he was someone truly special.
